ChuckFinleyLarger options for indoor staging of compost materials?
Trying to get more organized.
Rather than a little pail for trip after trip trying to find an option for more "staging" of the compost materials in the garage before taking out & down hill to the composters.
Not finding a lot on a quick internet search. Anyone have suggestions?

smlsigI’ve been getting into composting for the past couple of years and have “branched out” so to speak in how I do it.
I think that you could just get yourself a couple of plastic bins of what ever size you think works for you. I just bought 2, 17 gallon totes with lids at Lowe’s for like $8 each.
My latest adventure is trying to use worms I.e. vermiculture…

That is an interesting solution, thanks!
Good luck with the worms.

PHPaulI keep a small (2 quart or so) covered bucket on the kitchen counter.
Every morning when I go down to do chicken chores, I empty it (if needed) into the bins.
I add the contents of the bins to the main compost pile once it thaws out and starts working in the Spring.
The bins are big enough to hold all the incidental compostables (kitchen, yard and garden waste) until the next Spring cleanout.
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

pace40Two 5 gal buckets. Balances me out when I carry them to the pile. Lids keep the aroma down on the deck. Usually only fill them halfway or so before dumping.

Pastry buckets from grocery store bakeries are sometimes free or cheap if you ask. They have rubber seals and range from 2.5gal to 5gal.
