Johnny 3eaglesI was in church this morning and...
My phone beeped once.
It was a notification of a message received.
It was a picture of an ultrasound from my daughter in law.
Me: Details? She: Call after church.
Phone call after church. Son gives phone to our oldest granddaughter.
My granddaughter and her husband are having a baby in August. Their first.
Our first great grand baby

Gonna celebrate. New gun or new watch? Watch is 10 times more than the gun. Decisions decisions

BGULLCongratulations! We had our first grandchild, a girl, turned two in December. She’s been an absolute joy and a hoot to boot. There’s something different and special about grandchildren!

ElToroCongrats
Treasury note is terrible for a newborn. Same amount 1 time invested in a good mutual fund will be worth so much more in 18 years or later.

wolfe 21Personally, I feel like it's the parents responsibility to provide for the kid's future, not grand- or great grandparents, so I say go nuts and buy what you like. My $.02. This is most likely the result of not having kid's, so...
In any case, congratulations on the newest addition to the family. May all be healthy and happy.
A Perpetual Disappointment...

Rey HRHYeah, it's a milestone in aging when you get a great grand anything. You wonder whether people are giving birth younger these days or are you just getting that much older.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in." January 27, 2025, 03:43 PM
chellim1Congratulations!
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

4MUL8RA watch will ensure you are on time for visits. And, you can also time the warming of any bottles of liquid nutrition. And, the watch will also allow you to tell your wife that you are running late for a visit. The watch also is needed for any church visits, such as a baptism, so you look presentable.

I like the way you think! New watch it is
341 miles one way to their present home, at our age I fear trips won't be too frequent. I can do it but my wife can't.
My son in law just retired as a CFP (etc) and we are preparing to set the baby up for his/her 18th birthday.
