If you see me running try to keep up |
At least I can dream that, I doubt it will ever happen. Now I know that Covid can hit them like anyone else but I have zero problems with UPS, FedEx or DHL deliveries. Yet, USPS just sucks more every year. I had a pistol sent to me from South Carolina Priority Mail last Tuesday and it was supposed to be delivered in 3 days. Well of course due to Saturday being a holiday it delayed it by one day but it was showing Out for delivery Monday with delivery by 6:15 pm (it arrived in my area Friday). 6pm rolls around Monday and I see my USPS postal worker drive past my house and then I check tracking and it shows “available for pickup” with a 5:58 pm time stamp. That means that postal worker could not take 30 seconds to stop at my house and deliver the package. So Tuesday I head to the local Post Office and as usual there is 1 worker and a line so I finally get to the counter and tell them I want to pick up my package and show them the tracking number and my ID. Of course they do not know where it is at and he says the driver must be delivering it (but tracking shows available for pickup sill). I show him tracking where it clearly shows it’s available for pickup and he says to try back tomorrow (Wednesday). I call the post office and ask for the Postmaster and am told she it out so someone there asks if they can help. I tell them the story and say this is a handgun, I need to know if it is lost so I can report it to the ATF (Yes, I just did that because I was annoyed, I have some time before I need to declare it lost but I needed some way to get some help). She decides she will call the driver and see if he has it. About 5 hours later they found it and tell me I can pick it up. I signed up for Informed Delivery so I can monitor my mail since I frequently get my neighbors mail and they get mine. Monday I should have had 2 pieces of mail delivered and yesterday 5. I got exactly 0 delivered. Today I have most of it but one of my bills is MIA that showed Monday delivery on Informed Delivery. I have had several postal workers deliver my mail over the last 20 plus years and it never gets better. Honestly, how hard is it to put mail in the right box? I think Informed Delivery is just mocking me. It’s a pretty basic job, get the parcel, read the address and deliver to that address. How can USPS continue to deliver to the wrong address, lose parcels, take 6 days to deliver a 3 day package and generally just provide bad service? It’s not like they are a new business, they have been doing this since like 1775. I dread going to my local Post Office, most of the time the line is out the door. This is one government group that needs to be abolished and UPS or FedEx take over. While we are at it get rid of the IRS and a few other agencies.

Back many moons ago, had a similar deal - waiting on a package that I knew was imminent - heard mailman pull up outside, by the time I got to the mailbox he was gone - parcel pickup slip indicating no one present to accept package. After a few minutes I started driving around the neighborhood looking for them, he was pulled over chilling on the devilstrip nearby. Asked him for my package & he gave it to me, but always figured it was probably against regs for him to do so on the street after he left the residence. No attempt to knock at all, car in the driveway. Damn government ruins everything. <>< America, Land of the Free - because of the Brave

No... they won't. Perhaps they will be abolished. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Today I received a package I ordered on April 8th. Three months delivery time, to the day. The seller had refunded my money 6 weeks ago. I emailed her that it had finally arrived. She was so happy to hear that, she knocked 10% off of the price, when I paid for the merchandise again.

Still waiting for the December 2018 anniversary card that showed up on the Informed Delivery 2 days in a row. 17 months! If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

At one place I lived, the mailboxes were about 500 feet away from the homes and across a very busy highway. My neighbors were quite elderly and having trouble crossing the highway. My mailman ate his lunch parked a short distance away from the houses so I asked him we could move the mailboxes. Nope... Against USPS regs, cant deviate from the established route, etc. Blah, blah blah. The next day I shot a video of him lunching in the spot I wanted to put up the mailboxes. Suffice to say, a short time later I got the ok to move the boxes. Too much bureaucracy and BS. The local news just had a story about USPS wanting a 75 Billion dollar bailout to address their problems, despite the volume of mail being down. If no bailout is coming, then raise postage and shipping rates and reduce delivery days. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

We are fortunate as our rural carrier of a dozen years is a local and a friend. SELDOM any issues at all. NOT so with Fed Ex. they are terrible. Our address has shown on GPS for ten or more years now. Fed Ex can seldom find us. UPSsame as USPS same delivery guy for most of their career, few issues.

I delivered three packages on Friday, one of which required a signature. The recipient had the packages routed to the business at which he worked but the place looked closed, so I passed it and went to the residence next door, where I'd been told one of the supervisors lived. I left the three packages on the front porch after speaking to the supervisor's wife. Three days later, I get called aside and spoken to about the delivery by my supervisor. I explained the situation and he was cool with it. Just to be sure, I stopped in to the business to double check with the complainant. When I spoke to him, I recognized him as the very same person who told me that it would be fine to deliver stuff to the residence next door. He said he never received notice from the supervisor because he was out of town. Everything turned out fine but I hated having to defend myself to my supervisor for following instructions given by the customer. UPS keeps handing packages off to USPS... and they're ALWAYS late. Had a new gun belt show up 3 weeks late.

I know not all carriers are bad and that many problems stem from the bureaucracy within the organization. I just wish the minor problems would be fixed.

USPS is worthless. I had a shipment come halfway across the country in two days, spend six days in Dallas which is 60 miles away then get shipped to Houston 300 miles away. Never did get it. The Dallas delay has happened several times. Mail should not have to sit that long before advancing.

I had a package shipped 1st Class USPS from Michigan take 14 days to cross two states. Meanwhile, an item I purchased from the UK took less than 10 days via Airmail. Go Royal Mail!

They are bad, but I think they are one step ahead of Fed Ex. I got a package a week ago that looked like it had been sat on by an elephant. They put it on my step inside my garage. When I opened my door into the garage, I almost fell trying to avoid the package. The girl was still there in her truck when I got to the drive. I asked her why I can always tell when a package has been delivered by Fed Ex, because of how beat up it is? She just shrugged. NRA Life Endowment member Tri-State Gun collectors Life Member

Sent some books to a friend in Raleigh, ~ 90 miles. After 3 weeks it started showing out for delivery every day. At the end of the fourth week, he finally got it. I could have walked down there, handed him the books, had lunch, and started back home in way less time than that!
