Republicans have this inherent ability to snatch a potential victory and turn it into certain defeat and then run on the defeat as a platform "correct" Washington, only to repeat.

They're all swamp creatures.

I think security could be privatized by the airports.

The stories I could tell... but some another time.

They aren't sworn law enforcement, so it isn't a 4A issue technically, sort of. But LE is colocated. So it is 4A.

Anyhow, recently we took some of the grandkids on an adventure that required flying there and back. Their parents were dog-sitting for us. The wife & I have the highest TSA pre-whatever approval, so their computer knows our biometrics and all the travel we do.

On the return, the TSA person at the facial ID kiosk quizzes the kids, ages 7-9, on who we were, our names, our relationship to them, where their parents were, where we'd been, etc. I get it, kids being sex trafficked or kidnapped by an estranged family member is bad. But that is LE's authority to investigate upon having some suspicion of something amiss.

I didn't catch on immediately because they'd separated me from my wife and the kids, with my agent having me do the facial ID. By the time it registered, the questioning was finishing.

Pre- vs post- 9/11 is such a stark contrast. People under about age 50, which is a huge portion of America now, have no perspective on what has happened.

yes, they have no clue how f'd up flying for paying passengers on commercial airlines has been since 9/11...

Guess we sound like old curmudgeons, "Back in my day before all this new fangled scanning crap and those useless idiots they hire at TSA, flying was great, none of this patting down your body looking to feel you up crap! Just walked right in and to the plane!"
