Headed to the Ardmore area in early November to do a site visit on one of our field offices in a nearby town [pop 64, so Ardmore is likely a more hospitable location]. Any recommendations for the area, mostly decent dinner options & any areas to avoid? It'll be a quick turnaround, 1 night stay, but still gotta eat Driving up from Houston on 11/5, site visit morning of 11/6 & back to Houston midday on the 6th The Enemy's gate is down.

My street has nearly 64 people on it, so I imagine lodging & food there is a bit lacking. The Enemy's gate is down.

Windstar Casino and Resort is the big draw to Ardmore from North Texas

^^^^ Winstar Casino, exit #1 just north of the Red River when you cross over. Winstar Casino is HUGE. It's the worlds largest casino, measured in floor space. "Home to nine globally-themed gaming plazas stretching along a mile of gaming floor, WinStar boasts the largest collection of electronic and table games anywhere in the world." A mile, that's a lot to walk. Great dining and entertainment. Worlds Largest Casino LINK Yes I know, Worlds largest casino, beating Las Vegas and other casino meccas. Go figure. In the evenings, especially weekends, there are so many cars with Texas license plates backed up on I-35 trying to get in and leave their dollars, they added a 2nd exit a mile or so north of that one. Not just gambling, the entertainment venues are big names. More Info .

Drive up was uneventful other than the expected Dallas traffic. Couple people at the office recommended 2 Frogs Grill & it's really close to my hotel. Not bad other than the soup they called coleslaw. The Enemy's gate is down.

I hear good things about their Scottish restaurant: And, by all accounts, they have a great little seafood place:

Ardmore doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of great dining. At least insofar as anything beyond chains goes. All the stuff out by I-35 are the typical joints; Chick-Fil-A has always been a perennial favorite to stop at for years on my journeys through the area due to being clean and good service. Up the road near Davis is Smokin’ Joes Rib Ranch. Not the best bbq I’ve ever had, but it’s serviceable. Kind of a unique setting in that it’s attached to an RV campground. No clue if they’re open for dinner. If anything find someplace that sells Arbuckle Fried Pies and grab you a few of their flavor options. Wish I had more ideas for you, but it’s just your typical fare for the most part. Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…
