Exactly, like the tire accident with two fatalities last week. I listen in on the scanner and there is so much going on out there, definitely worse than it used to be.

Juan Browne checks in. Looking at the video mjlennon posted, it doesn't appear to me that the CRJ was in motion at the point of collision, and was clearly short of the hold-short line. Way too early to be drawing any conclusions concerning fault, of course.

CRJ was 40-50 feet from the hold line.
And the 'bus FO could have requested the PIC deviate 20-30 feet to the right ensure clearance.

(coulda woulda shoulda from my keyboard)

ps I have moved aircraft from T-38 up to C-5, and some in very dicey places and conditions.

I watched a guy taxi his B36TC (turbocharged longer fuselage Bonanza) right on the yellow taxi line and smack his wingtip into the spinner of another airplane tied down in a tie down spot along the taxiway. I guess on a checkride one might want to get religious about nailing the yellow line, but I’ve always felt that it was more important not to hit anything. I’ve also always felt that being perfectly on the yellow line isn’t an excuse for hitting someone else. If the RJ was too far back the 350 pilot should have either gone around if he had room, asked the RJ pilot to pull up, or advised the ground controller and waited until the RJ was out of the way.

To the right or to the left? Sorry, trying to picture all this in my head.

Left if you're the bus driver, right if you're the camera operator

I sent an email to Juan Brown a few weeks back inquiring about a C421 that crashed on approach into SBS....Steamboat Colorado a few months back. I have never found his analysis of this accident. Anyone seen a debriefing on this event?

Thanks. I had spoken with this pilot a week or two before this accident. He was instrumental in building new hangars out at the KLMO (Longmont) airport. He was a very pleasant fellow. Sad.

Sorry, I meant left. I was "looking to the right at the CJR" in my mind as I was typing.

No.

Oh, wait, come to think of it, yes:

The increased frequency of these events is the issue, due to the hiring practices of the FAA, with their stupid fucking DEI bullshit. Incidents and accidents of all sorts involving commercial aircraft will become far more commonplace because the FAA feels it's important to put unqualified pilots in the air, incompetent air traffic controllers in the tower, and lazy and deceitful maintenance personnel in the hangers.
