After retirement we wanted to escape California. We spent a week in Prescott, Arizona looking around and loved it. Everyone waves to you, says hi, lets you go first either in car or on foot, everyones friendly! 4-months later we bought a house. Best thing we have ever done.

We were worried about being from "California" but we are finding out that many escaped California before us.

Ponderosa pine trees in our backyard, herds of deer and javelina every week, foxes at night, bears at our back fence and Bald Eagles to watch.

Walk into a store and buy a gun and walk out with it. Summer Monsoons/lightening are spectacular. Looking out our front picture window to snow white outs. NO graffiti. Mild climates. Look up and see the Milky Way. Can it get any better.

I've been to Prescott and have given thought to selling my place here and moving there.

But I still like Tucson as a small town environment and it keeps me away from Phoenix.

All conservative folks from any other states, including CA are welcome to AZ. The trouble making ones here are the "Californicators" that bring their liberal anti-gun shit with them.

I’m right there with you. Three years and nine months.

My favorite story is first week of getting here, coming out of Costco, go through an intersection with Stop signs on the cross street, I went through and an SUV had to stop. I figure led he didn’t see me. Stopped in the middle of the block for a red light, the SUV pulled up alongside and both people were waving their hands at us. I roll my window down and one said, “Do you know you blew past the stop sign there?”

“I did?”

“Yes.”

“I didn’t see.”

Then the light turns green and they drove off still waving their hands. I told my wife, “If this was in California, they wouldn’t be waving all five fingers at us.”

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I’ve actually been meaning to sign up for the AR classes. I went to visit the first year, talked to someone who I think was the owner, he was friendly enough. I haven’t gotten a round tuit, yet.

I would put in a plug for my gun club Prescott action shooters, 12.5 miles south of town on 89 near Wilhoit

We are a private club with a long waiting list for membership, but it is a terrific facility. Our primary focus is competitive shooting, and we allow nonmembers to participate in all our matches - our match calendar includes USPSA IDPA steel challenge benchrest and standing rimfire silhouette and more.

Look up Prescott action shooters on the web and our site with calendar and contacts for info will pop right up.

A second plug for my VFW post 10227 Prescott valley. Great group of people, we have open to the public lunch Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday and dinner every Friday plus other various events ( most of which are open to the public)

Moved to Prescott Valley, Az in July, 2024. It is an amazing area to live, people are extremely friendly, the weather is simply wonderful. The sky is filled with stars at night. Life is great.

I love Prescott. My favorite uncle lived in Wilhoit for many years until he passed away. His wife managed a library in Prescott but I've lost contact.
