I remember watching some TV show about it long ago and they inferred all sorts of magic power or alien technology garbage on how one man could build and cut and move the giant structures. Forgot about it over the years, but just ran into this amateur
video where he reverse-engineered how the original guy did the work and engineering.

All of this guys demonstrations and explanations make sense without any of the magic power or levitation BS, but what's truly sad is that this guy actually demonstrates the engineered stuff, and yet idiots are arguing with him in the comments about BS like levitation and stuff. Just thought it was cool that this guy went and reverse-engineered actual working equipment

Mrs.BurtonRW and I visited the Coral Castle many years ago on the way to a day at Monkey Jungle. They opened very early and it was quite eerie being the only ones there barely after sunrise. Creepy place, depressing story, very eccentric dude, but kind of fascinating all the same.

They had several booklets about his life and the story of the castle. I'm pretty sure they knew how he constructed it as well. I recall a fair amount of detail about the lengths he went to in order to make it happen. No aliens.

Truthfully, I always figured Ed was a really smart guy who used leverage to his advantage. I conclude this because I'm pretty good at it myself.

This is pretty fricking cool. Each individual component was not overly complex. The culmination of each of these mechanisms is just fantastic.

The Castle is just several miles from my house and have visited several different times over the years. It has some great photographic capabilities and has been kept up beautifully over the years. Actually it appears that each time I've visited it looks even nicer with all the landscape and nicely placed flowers and plants. Over the years also, though I'm not sure if they do it anymore, but they would often open it up at night on different occasions, especially Halloween I seem to remember. Different groups would also rent it for private parties and events. It"s a pretty cool and unique place. Though I got a strange vibe in his upstairs Castle that he was a very lonely guy, and saddened by his failed love life. Out in the open courtyards and gardens, it's amazing and interesting, especially all the time and craftsmanship that went into shaping and constructing the place. Winter is the best time to visit, but even a quick tour in the summer isn't too bad as there's a good bit of shade when needed. I've even visited on my lunch hour from work in the past with a coworker who was intrigued driving by on the highway and looking at some of the structures. The lunches and snacks aren't cheap but convenient to get out of the sun into the shade and chat while having a quick snack. IMO, it's worth a quick visit while traveling to the Keys or returning, or just looking for stuff to do if visiting the South Miami or Homestead area.
