My house in NW Indiana officially went on the market yesterday, though I hope to stay here through most of August. Then I'll be moving back to my lovely home state of Massachusetts, but also have a place in South Carolina that I will eventually call my residence. I have a love/hate relationship with Mass, but I have older sisters there and college/high school friends.

I started my job in Gary, IN in 1998 and retired (still have trouble saying that word) last January. My purpose for being here was only the job, so now it's time to move on, but not without sadness of my experience here and the load of friends I've made over the years.

Life and time marches on.

I am jealous of you being retired - I have a few more years before I can do that I suspect but I guess that is tempered by you moving back to MA.

My condolences on that one.

Greg, it's a tough one (MA), but as you know, I enjoyed my time in NH for quite a few years.

Hopefully your retirement is sooner than you suspect. Mine came as a little surprise, but it's working out.

Thanks - appreciate that very much. It’s day by day for me. I was watching a tv show that T and I used to watch quite a bit and I started to send her a text.

But every morning I sit on my back deck watching the sun come up and I raise my coffee mug and say ‘morning Tracy’.

I will stop eventually but it’s how I get through my mornings. I am hoping to have her ashes next week so I can have a memorial evening up on Mt Lemmon. She really enjoyed Windy Point and looking at the city at night.

Having spent a lot of time up there (closer to Hammond) since the mid 80's, with an ex wife i met in Griffith and a best friend who I met when he was living in Munster, all I can say is it must have been one hell of a job.

Thank you! Yeah, not the greatest area in the world, but the job was a good one. And Indiana is a good conservative state despite the NW area not being as much. I took advantage of the good parts of Chicago while here and that's been good.

I grew up in NW Connecticut about 10 miles south of MA.
Beautiful and interesting place but glad I don't live there now.

Thanks, Artie. My place is in Buzzards Bay, close to the water and that's a very appealing part of this eventual move. My house is actually closer to Onset Village.

I have been thinking of making my permanent residence South Carolina though sooner than later.

I saw you're going to Buzzards Bay but would have a better chance of still speaking "midwest" if you were moving west of Quabbin

Ha, you're probably right. But it's nice to walk down the street to the bay and look across to see my alma mater, Mass Maritime Academy.
