Need home rowing machine recommendations
Gym to which I used to belong had Concept 2's. Loved 'em. Trying to convince my current gym to get a rower in.

I understand the attraction to the water rower, but the C2 is more easily moved/stored.

Check your local Craigslist. Probably find lots of 'em for sale. Plus any other exercise gear you want. People buy the stuff, then find out exercise isn't as much fun as they thought it would be Smile

I don't know about the water rower, but the concept 2 is easy to take apart and is light weight. You can usually get a good deal on a used one for $500-$750.

Just used one this morning.

I have a C2 D.

I drove to the factory in VT to pick it up.

Very nice people.

As I read your original post, I kept thinking.... maybe simply putting the house on a diet.....?

I've been with Concept 2 for decades all the way back to college rowing training. And I have never been disappointed in any way. The product works, the wear parts they stock and will supply even for very, very old machines and machines in the most brutal usage environments do just fine. I can't imagine anyone beating their overall track record.

I use the Concept 2 at the gym and bought a Water rower for home based on Black92LX's suggestion. They're both great machines but I prefer the water rower. It also folds easily for storage if you have a need to do that.

Concept 2 . Have used one for many years. Remarkably well built. Great choice of workouts.

I've had a concept 2 since 1990. I still use it.

My wife and I had been using the Concept rower at our local fitness center a couple of time a week but that stopped with the C-19 shutdown. So, she ordered a Model D a couple of weeks ago and we've been at it daily since.

I also discovered the ErgData app and have been using it and the Wahoo TICKR HR monitor. The ErgData log was initially showing some weird spikes in the stroke count which I tracked back to poor rowing technique. Which I was able correct thanks to the feedback from the app.

Just to chime back in. I've got 836,000 meters on my log card. So lets just say a Concept 2 will hold up just fine. On the big push for A Million!

Another vote for Concept 2. I use mine regularly and love it. I've used water rowers and while they're cool, when it comes down to owning one, I chose concept 2.

I have extensive time on both the Concept 2 and on the waterrower. They are the same but very different. They both will mess you up and make it hard to stand after...

I bought the Waterrower for my home. It is much better looking and quieter.

I prefer the sound and the calmness from the Waterrower. The Concept sounds and feels like a machine. The Waterrower is much more organic.

You can't go wrong with either one. I would suggest trying them out before you buy.

Any updates on this thread? Purchasing soon and leaning towards the water rower if I can get it delivered overseas.

We bought a Concept2 (same as in our community fitness center) in late March and I've put a bit over 1.3 million meters on it so far. We set it up in the guest bedroom and my wife and both use it regularly. I've never seen/used a Water Rower so cannot comment on them. I did gave a cheap piston/shock absorber rower years ago...POS.

Concept 2. As has been mentioned. Easy to maintain, take apart and move around. Highly recommend. I’ve seen them beat to death and still keep on working.....Good luck.

I have a Concept2 Model D I purchased last year.

All I know is that if you are deciding to get one new from manufacturer, know that there is a waiting list. It took me maybe 3-4 months to get mine from Concept2. Not sure how long the wait is now.
