I Need a Sophisticated Mathematician

ArtieSI Need a Sophisticated Mathematician
I am looking for a referral to a mathematician to run some complex calculations on extremely large numbers, with a large dependent set of variables. It is a practical, not theoretical, problem which is being addressed, but the numbers are truly astronomical.
I should note that most discussions of the issue would require signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement, and could turn into a longer term consulting arrangement.
If anyone is such a person, or knows such a person, please respond to my email in profile.
Thank you all for your help with this.

TigerDoreI am not a sophisticated mathematician, but did you hear about the constipated mathematician?

He worked the problem out with a pencil.

WaterburyBobSorry I can't help.
I'm neither sophisticated nor a mathematician.

extremely large numbers
Do you mean an extremely large number of digits (very high precision)? Hard.
Or 10 digits of precision with a large exponent? Not so hard. A decent spreadsheet app can do that. As can many programming languages.

thumperfbcJust because I'm curious (and somewhat uneducated in most matters), wouldn't AI be good at solving complex math problems? Seems like it would be.
In any event I hope you find the right person that can take care of your needs!

1967GoatSounds like a highly complex and complicated mathematical algorithm.

That's my go-to answer when anyone asked me how something is calculated!

Have you ever tried asking ChatGPT a math question? Utterly unreliable.

A number 2 pencil FYI.

I use Grok often to aide in checking the math of my oldest child. We homeschool and Grok saves me lots of time from having to do the work myself, plus it "shows its work" so when my child makes a mistake we can go step by step through her work and find the error.
This is, of course, very basic level and not what the OP was talking about, but that is why I was curious.

V-TailAs I understand it, Artie is looking for some specialized techniques to manipulate very large numbers. Which, of course, reminds me of the story about the sorority girls who went to Rio de Janeiro for Spring Break.
They went out partying and clubbing, and somehow got separated. The next morning over breakfast, one of them said, "I had sex with a couple Brazilian guys last night."
A moment of silence, then one of the other girls spoke up. "WOW! Uh, ... how many zeroes in a Brazilian?"

ArtieSOk, to clarify, we are talking analytics on 3 dimensional datasets with a volume of 10^10,000,000,000

Never heard of Grok before and it's pretty cool. I have previously used Wolfram Alpha but I think Grok might better as it shows steps.
ArtieS, can you sanitize what you're working on? I'm probably not going to be of any help, but I'm an engineer and curious.

From Perplexity:
The volume 10 ^10,000,000,000 is a 1 followed by 10 billion zeros.
This number is far beyond the scale of anything measurable in the physical universe. For comparison, the estimated number of atoms in the observable universe is around 10^80.
In practical terms, such a volume is purely theoretical and has no real-world application, as it exceeds the capacity of any known physical system or structure. It is often used in mathematical contexts to illustrate the concept of extremely large numbers.
Multiple Universes?

parabellumI can assist you as long as subtraction is not involved. When you subtract numbers in a column, if the number on top is smaller than the number on the bottom, I'm stumped. I know you're supposed to carry something somewhere, but, shit, Third Grade was a long time ago, OK?
