italy has close to the oldest population in the world(if not the oldest). health issues aside, seems that anyone over 50 should be cautious, and over 80, should be very cautious....the problem is, i dont know of any "old" people that arent cautious every flu season. the ones that dont seem to die from this current virus, are the ones spewing it all over the place. just like every other virus that affects age groups differently. this virus hitting nursing homes, is a tragedy.

the virus will be a minor factor in the damage we are self inflicting here....

A few reminders about mortality chart data:
1. Can’t assume from that that not dying means all is well. For example, what percentage of survivors will experience long-term impacts (eg lung scarring)?
2. Don’t get hung up on the flu comparison. CDC shows that 9.3 to 45 million people catch the flu every year, and 12k to 61k die from it. With a more deadly disease, we need to take more precautions than normal flu season.

3. An under 50 person’s impact on others. Everyone needs to do their part to “flatten the curve” because:

We (I’m under 50) can transmit to a higher risk group.

Once again it’s a mortality table so it’s not showing data such as how much health care (eg hospital beds, oxygen, etc) it takes to survive, and there is a finite amount of health care available.

Hell, if you believe the 34 times more likely deaths and the “doubles every six days” hysteria presented as fact in this thread, there should be tens of thousands of Americans already dead. There simply is not.

Trying to make up statistics without the true numbers is impossible. Just like trying to reason with people who refuse to take a breath and think. By extension, most of these numbers are made up based upon the limited numbers that people have cobbled together to say something. Anything. They have to be shown that the “are doing something” to calm the panic. Where have we heard “just do something” from the media before?

Wash you hands. If you are at risk, take other precautions like avoiding crowds (it is stuff you should be doing this time of year anyways). Turn off the TV and stop worrying. You don’t have to be an “expert” on the internet to figure this out.

It’s as simple as that. The sky isn’t falling.

I would expect that it would. It doesn't usually take a lot of heat to inactivate a virus. That's why your body runs a fever when it's infected. Only a few degrees higher than normal is enough. The subtle game your immune system plays is to run hot enough, for long enough, to kill the infection but not you.

Some of that is certainly true. However, consider that Italy didn't shut their entire country down to own Trump. This whole situation is no joke.

Electric clothes dryers have thermal cutoffs ~350, with a ~180 turnon this is at the heating element, so actual heat at clothes will be less. But the inlet air is still somwhere between 150 and 300 degrees. I would think 30-40 minutes at this temperature would do the job.
