When someone orders me to wear a mask I just tell them that I was holding my breath and they are putting everyone in danger by making me talk to them.

I used the "I am part of the control group" line today at my local Lowes. I forget who posted this here over the weekend - but thanks. No surprise that the Karen in front of me had no clue what I was referring to. (but the guy behind me did and enjoyed the jest)

I used to live in Chicago. One of the things that I enjoyed was the places that had a window opening to the sidewalk. You walked up and bought a "Chicago Dog." This was a hot dog on a poppy seed roll, piled with all sorts of goodies: Tomato slices, a wedge of pickle, peppers, diced onions, and more.

A new place just opened here near my house in a suburb of Orlando. Chicago Dogs. Outdoor place. Walk up to the window and order.

I will say it again. This is an OUTSIDE place. You know, sunshine, fresh air, a breeze, all of the things that make it reasonably safe from The Virus.

A sign next to the service window, asking customers at this OUTDOOR place to wear masks.

Pure genius.

Funny how people operate. I was at my local watering hole last week, threw away my last mask and didn't realize I was out. Walked in, sat down with my friends, and never had a problem. This week, I had my mask, put it on to go to the restroom, came back out and removed my mask 10ft from the table and was chastised by the manager. It's like a box of chocolates.

NH has lifted the mask restriction. Some businesses are clinging to it - others are not. I am currently choosing where to spend my $ based on this.

As I told the manager of one of our local Mexican restaurants, you can inquire, seek to educate, or even remind me of your ridiculous rules, but don't you 'ever' raise your voice to me or attempt to speak down to me. My sense of humor and fair play regarding this BS is gone and I'm not going to put up with any of this crap anymore.

We've done the latter 2 a couple of times but were tight. Being fully vaccinated is a breath of fresh air. We were doubled masked. Being in 3 stores and with my wife making up for lost time in Kohls, it was longest amount of time I've been masked up. I can't imagine what healthcare workers and so many essential workers in the service industry go through for 8-10 hours. So much respect.

It really was a pleasure having what as simple as it was, having an almost normal experience. Now it was not pre-covid with people in masks and the occasional person not wearing one. I only saw a few in the 2 days and 5 stores. But still, I wanted to say something but I didn't.

Right on! My city (Bettendorf) is resuming the big parade followed by a day long streetfest. The unspoken message is "Up yours, Joe!"

Even better, our gov told Creepy Joe "We're not taking any kids from the border, they're YOUR problem."

It's jarring to read things like that. I've run across a few myself - there are people who have literally locked themselves down for over a year. Just stunning to even think about. After the first two weeks last year we have been pretty normal other than me being able to work from home. I've probably made a hundred visits each to Lowe's and Home Depot. We showed and sold our house, moved into a rental and storage for 4 months and then moved again into our current home. Other than throwing a mask on when going into stores and restaurants, little has changed. I can't believe that there are people who have literally locked themselves into their homes for over a year.

We actually started masking-up, following a fairly rigorous decontamination protocol, and limiting "social interaction" fairly early-on. I recall walking into stores being the only individual wearing a mask. I stopped visiting my gym a week before they were closed by Gov. Whitler's order.

But...

It soon became apparent to me one of two things was happening: Either Fauci, WHO, CDC, etc., etc. were lying to us, or they simply had no clue what was going on and were just making noise.

That was the end of the "extreme" measures.

We still mask-up when required by stores. I don't know about my wife, but I don't when they don't. My gym does not require it so I do not. We both still disinfect our hands upon returning to our vehicles and are diligent about hand-washing, but we no longer "decontaminate" groceries and packages. We're both still taking elevated amounts of Vit. C and D as a prophylactic measure.

IOW: About the same as we do during cold & flu season.

Neither one of us plans to get vaccinated. (My doc asked me about it. "No thanks, doc. I'd sooner take my chances with the Wu Flu than a rushed experimental vaccine." He dropped it.)

Speaking of masking-up...

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why we can't go back to normal once everyone who wants the vaccine gets it. Once the most vulnerable people and front line workers are covered it shouldn't matter that the rest of us low risk folks don't get it. We won't be filling up the hospitals, and wasn't that the whole goal to begin with?

No, that was just what they were pushing publicly - two weeks to 'flatten the curve'.

That was debunked over a year go, that was never the real goal. Whatever the goal was, it was never really just to 'flatten the curve' of hospitalizations.

California's public universities to require COVID-19 vaccine

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Two of the nation's largest university systems say they intend to require COVID-19 vaccinations for all students, faculty and staff on University of California and California State University campuses this fall.

Several U.S. colleges and universities also have said they plan to require the vaccination. But Thursday’s joint announcement from the 10-campus University of California and the 23-campus California State University is the largest of its kind in American higher education.

The CSU system in the nation's biggest four-year college system, with about 485,000 students and tens of thousands of staff, while the UC system has more than 280,000 students.

“Together, the CSU and UC enroll and employ more than one million students and employees across 33 major university campuses, so this is the most comprehensive and consequential university plan for COVID-19 vaccines in the country,” CSU Chancellor Joseph I. Castro said in the statement.

Stanford University also announced a mandate Thursday requiring all of its 19,000 students to be vaccinated when classes start in the fall.

Because this has Emergency Use Authorization only.
It is not approved. It has not been tested for efficacy or side effects.
There are zero long term studies etc.

Plus healthy, young people are at more risk of being struck by lightening, while being kidnapped by space aliens, during a solar eclipse than they are to die due to Covid. Not just with Covid, but due to covid. I could die with bad breath, that doesn't mean I died due to bad breath.
