Not much talk of this in the US media the past couple days, hmmmmm I wonder why? Roll Eyes

From Yahoo UK:

Coronavirus 'disappearing' so fast Oxford vaccine has 'only 50% chance of working'

There is only a 50% chance of the Oxford coronavirus vaccine working because cases in the UK are declining so fast, one of the scientists behind it has warned.

The University of Oxford's Jenner Institute and the Oxford Vaccine Group began developing a COVID-19 vaccine in January using a virus taken from chimpanzees.

But with the number of UK coronavirus cases dropping every day, there may not be enough people to test it on, according to the institute's director Professor Adrian Hill.

He told The Sunday Telegraph: "It's a race against the virus disappearing, and against time. We said earlier in the year that there was an 80% chance of developing an effective vaccine by September.

"But at the moment, there's a 50% chance that we get no result at all. We're in the bizarre position of wanting COVID to stay, at least for a little while."

New York officials have scrubbed Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s March 25 order requiring nursing homes to take in COVID-19 patients from the state health department website — even as Cuomo’s office insists that the order, which has been linked to thousands of nursing home deaths, remains in effect.

The web page that once contained the order now directs to a page indicating that the file is “not found.” The archive indicates that the deletion occurred sometime after May 5, around the time that criticism over New York’s nursing home fatalities intensified.

A copy of the page saved by the Internet archive Wayback Machine, however, shows that Cuomo’s order stated: “No resident shall be denied readmission or admission to the NH [nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19. NHs [Nursing homes] are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission.”

Wyoming Governor, Mark Gordon just announced the cancellation of Cheyenne Frontier Days for the first time in its 124 year history. In fact, all of Wyoming’s big rodeos were cancelled after lengthy discussions between the governor and the chairmen of the rodeos. Gordon got kind of emotional when he announced the ultimate decision; he competed in rodeo himself. Business owners across the country are lamenting that people are not coming back to their jobs, even when offered. For small businesses able to survive the quarantine, more will need to be done to get their workers off welfare and back in the workforce. It’s going to require thoughtful action from state and federal leaders, as well as strict enforcement of existing laws regarding unemployment benefits. Thankfully, some of the nation’s governors are making bold and commonsense moves to address the three-headed monster of a health crisis, budget woes, and businesses on the brink of extinction.

Congress created this problem, in large part, by adding a $600 per week unemployment benefit on top of the usual benefit so that many made significantly more money staying at home than they made while working. This is the perfect storm for wide-scale unemployment fraud and abuse.

Dear Leader needs a mask lesson. Maybe use Saran Wrap and do a couple of turns round the whole head?

Or have some burly NYSP tackle him and fix it for him?

On Tuesday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said that wearing a mask was “cool” and suggested he wanted to sign an executive order that said, “Wearing a mask is officially cool.”

“Wearing a mask is now cool,” Cuomo said. “I believe it’s cool. … Wearing a mask is officially cool.”

Dude needs some training on “cool” - he looks more doofus than cool...

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Wednesday told CNN that wearing a mask was a “symbol.”

“I want to protect myself and protect others, and also because I want to make it be a symbol for people to see that that’s the kind of thing you should be doing,” Fauci said, even though he reminded viewers that masks were “not 100 percent effective.”

It won't last. None of this will last. Once people begin to realize the severe overreaction of the ENTIRE WORLD, they'll cease this idiotic shit, in order to be able to move on to the next idiotic shit.

Today's phrase is- Short attention span

If people remain so frightened that they need to be encased in their own bubble, they will be too scared to dine out, go to movies, etc, so there will be no need for this crap. This is unsustainable. No one who runs a business which caters to warm bodies will want to deal with the expense, the upkeep, the additional effort, and the general pain-in-the-assedness of the entire farce.

My wife and I were watching Home Improvement last night when Wilson said this to Tim:

"See, Tim, it was the Roman philosopher Seneca who said “if we let things terrify us, then life is not worth living.”

From a 2000 year old Roman philosopher, via a twenty year old sitcom: A particularly apt observation for this day and age.
