Could it be he got bad info? Could there have been a misunderstanding? Or could google be trying to torpedo Trump?
I can see the possibility that any of the three could have happened.
Maybe last-minute discussion regarding google’s help was responsible for the delay in starting his speech.

thunderson^ I trust Google as far as I can throw them. Of course Verily, Googles sister company, is working on this for the San Fran area. But Google "knows nothing about it". Google better figure it out quick. Google has a chance to step up, or they can continue to be the whining liberal bitches they've proven themselves to be.
Also, interesting that neither the White House nor Google have actually made any comment on this story. Wired.

I wouldn’t say he was wrong at all. Saying it was Verily (which few people have heard of) vs Google is semantics. People know “Alphabet” as Google, regardless of what their actual name is on their quarterly reports, so I would say he spoke correctly. RightwireI'm curious.... What started the TP stampede? I don't recall seeing any discussions about long term quarantine, what you'll need, ect. Suddenly all the TP was gone.
Who bought it all THAT fast? Why didn't they think food was more important? I've talked to a lot of people and none of them bought any until it was already mostly gone. Things aren't making sense here.

IIRC Mr. Trump mentioned that he had been talking with Gov. Cuomo of NY just before the press meeting on the sit-rep there. I'd like to think given the very recent news that Goggle's been drafted into this war, whereas Walgreen's, CVS, Roche, Quest Diagnostics, Walmart etc. are volunteers.

Perhaps if Speaker Pelosi gave Google a phone call....

And those projections are based on a calculated global CFR from John's Hopkins data and comparing to H1N1 1918 variant, which is likely not valid. Again, likely hundreds of millions of Chinese have been infected by now, not thousands, although we also very probably don't have an accurate count of total fatalities either.

r0gueAll care is local. A nationwide website for testing is (while not a bad thing per se) unnecessary and perhaps resources could be put to better use.
The places that have testing, have communication channels. As this develops, information timeliness is everything. Something written last Wednesday is nearly useless.
My hospital has a website of course, and also uses FaceBook, local media, etc...

The grocery store at the entrance to my neighborhood was stripped so bare that it even ran out of brussel sprouts. In the meat aisle, every inexpensive cut of meat was gone and only prime and wagyu grades left.

mark60I just came from Wegmans where they had no meat or chicken. Half the store was decimated, I haven't seen anything like it since our big blizzard in '77. It's good to have a full freezer.

HEB, a prominent Texas grocery store chain, has been hit so hard they've taken the step of reducing the hours they are open (from 6AM-midnight to 8AM-8PM) so that they have enough time to try to keep up with restocking the stores.

r0gueThis is my wild-ass guess, with no more basis than anyone else's, -- but my assumption on the TP matter is that it is very visible when it starts to clear off the shelves (big fat multi-packs), and that this triggered a reaction and more agressive stockpiling. They can only shelve so many at a time. So maybe they have 2000 cases of pop on the pop aisle, but only 60 big packs of TP. 100 people come through to stock up on both, and it looks like there's a run on TP.
And then, there IS a run on TP.

ugeesta^^^ same thing here at our Sams Club. For the business opening, there were about 200 people waiting to get in when we got there and about another 200 showed up after us.

You don't understand, something must be done! We just can't stand around taking this sitting down. Think of the politicians. When the press asks "what are you doing?", how foolish would a politician look by respondong "nothing."? We can't have our politicians being paid to do nothing, can we? Especially when people will die if they do nothing. I know, I know, people would have died anyway, but then the remaining people would blame the politicians for doing nothing. Of course, I realize that even when the politicians do something people will blame politicians for either not doing enough, or doing to much and saying they should have done nothing at all. But at least the politicians can say, "look, people were dying, and we had to do something."
