Where did my tequila go?
I've taken a strong liking to Peligroso Anejo but I can't get any here. I hopped on their website and it looks like it only goes to a few states. Anyone have any ideas as to what the heck that's about?

The importer sells to a distributor who sells to retail. Some states act as distributor. If the distro for your market doesn’t carry it anymore your local can’t buy it. Talk to your local. They might be able to special order. You might have to order online from out of state if your state is shippable.

If you were around here (New Orleans) I’d say all your neighbors drank it at the first of many hurricane party’s. Looks like 5 days worth.

Well crap. I guess It will have to wait until I visit one of the states they ship to. Looks like the distributor has it but wont ship it to certain places. Their website reflects that they only service some states so I was wondering if the excluded areas pissed them off for some reason.

Different states have different alcohol rules. For example, KY can't sell bourbon with a higher that 120 proof alcohol content. Most of the distillers water it to specific levels, and some sell it at 80, 100, and 120 proof (Knob Creek being one.) I'm sure other states have some pretty crazy rules. I know Va had "ABC" stores, state approved retail liquor outlets. Missouri, IIRC, couldn't sell malt liquors over a certain strength. Talk to a small liquor retailer, preferably the manager or owner. You might be surprised.

Taxes vary widely as well. Sometimes my brother visits from Seattle. He picks up a case or two of KY bourbon before he drives back, because a 15 dollar bottle here is 63 bucks out the door there, with taxes and all.
