Last night, Stanford and Nebraska women played for the NCAA Div 1 Volleyball Championship. The match went 5 sets and Stanford defeated the Husker women to become 2018 NCAA Champs.

Apparently, the press was allowed into Stanford's locker room afterwards, and someone snapped this picture of the whiteboard in their locker room.

The drawing depicts the Stanford mascot tree holding a gun on the Husker mascot and flipping it off (I know the gun looks like a hair dryer, but typically, hair dryers don't have trigger guards). I'll link at least one Blogger's post about the incident that lists the writing on the whiteboard.

Nebraska fans and media response has been heavy and runs the gamut from "No big deal," to "Suspend whoever did this!" to "We don't want to be snowflakes about this," to "Stay classy, Stanford."

My own reaction matches that of a number of Husker fans. This university in the S.F./Silicon Valley area, along with UC-Berkeley are leaders in the radical left capital of the most left run state in the country. Public school kids have been expelled from school for a lot less. The most anti-2nd Amendment region and state in the country appears to dismiss this incident as nothing, as you'll see in the link I provide below. It's not a big deal, but the hypocrisy is real. BTW, the Stanford AD apologized immediately.

It's a shame, because the match was a really good one.

I don't know anything about "deadspin.com," but the comments to this post seem to all dismiss the whiteboard picture as nothing.

Haven't little kids been expelled for drawings of guns or biting a sandwich into the shape of a gun and other such ridiculous nonsense. So, assuming these people should know better (being at Stanford and all), should they be subject to any less of the idiocy - liberal school in a liberal state driving the zero tolerance drivel?

Sack them. Good for geese and gander. Of course, nothing will happen. And while distasteful, nothing should really happen (just folks with lack of class - nothing surprising for the Bay Area - par for the course). I agree w/ the Husker - don't be snowflakes. But acknowledge once again that you can't buy class.

I hate stanfurd. I hate the tree, I hate the band, I hate that they have a stupid color as a mascot. I hate Palo Alto because that's where stanfurd's campus is. About the only thing I don't hate about stanfurd is the Hoover Institute and Thomas Sowell's involvement.

This is a really stupid thing to get worked up over. I'm backing stanfurd on this one.

LOL, you beat me to it! That's the worst thing I see in this pic, and I'll give the athletes the benefit of the doubt they can do it without hurting themselves.

Apparently the locker room was supposed to be a Snowflake-Free Zone.

As we all should.
I remember when the media was about reporting the news. I miss those days.

I agree with you, its the hypocrisy that gets me. I think the board is funny, and it should be left at that, an amusing picture. But screw them, they are the assholes who spurned all the liberal PC bull that is our world today. Its always Ok for them, but not for us.

Show's complete lack or class. Hard to imagine a coach of character would allow something like that. More examples of down the shitter we have gone. Just terrible lack of sportsmanship if true. I hope it is a fake.

So the fact that kids from what the OP characterizes as "leading left" universities did not act like a bunch of mindless snowflakes who are utterly appalled by the fact that guns exist is...offensive.

Sometimes you have to learn to take "yes" for an answer - and be glad the PC fascists on the faculty failed to indoctrinate their students.

These girls did not create the stupid-as-fuck rules/policies, so I have no beef with them on the matter of hypocrisy. It is not their's to own.

Fuck the double standard hypocrites that do create the rules/policies, then then play loosy-goosey with them as is suites their wants.

Once your eighteen, you own it. Or at least that is what I recall my dad said at one point.

Pretty much lost these days as most parents of these 18 years still have not figured that out.

Problem is, it is still true for them and their spawn.

So I am not in agreement SM.

This was nothing. It was whiteboard/locker room talk to get the team amped nothing more than some fun in jest.
They brought nothing malicious to the court.

What happens in the locker room should stay in the locker room (as long as nobody gets hurt, and I'm not talking about hurt feelings).

Nobody's business but theirs. Ain't nobody coming in to my bathroom / changing room and whining about what they see.

On the other hand, who made this picture public? If it was one of the participants, they have nothing to whine about, re negative repercussions.

Deadspin is a very far left group that masks itself as a sports news agency. They are a bunch of hacks.

BTW, I dropped the image in "google images" to try and find a better quality image (if it were available) to see what the text says to have better context of the whole board.

And google identified it as "FUN".

Ironic, as google is weighted pretty far on the left side of the the SS Lollipop.
