Donald Trump is right. She was never the skillful politician Bill Clinton was. He was a very talented liar, so much so that even his foes admired his skill. Hillary had none of that. Just a liar... but not very good at it. She rose to the heights she did by attaching herself to Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton is our great living exemplar of Sam Goldwyn’s great epigram: If you can fake sincerity, you’ve got it made. The joke, of course, is that sincerity is supposed to be more or less synonymous with honesty—truthfulness with a buttery frosting of earnestness. And although the honesty we want our presidents to embody isn’t merely (or even mainly) the literal Jimmy Carter kind (“I will never lie to you”), it’s an important part of the package. Telling the truth, or not, has turned out to be a leitmotif of this election. “[Bill] Clinton’s an unusually good liar,” his fellow Democrat (and Hillary endorser) Bob Kerrey said of the president back around the time the First Lady was visiting postwar Bosnia. Thanks to the news footage of her unremarkable, sniper-free landing on the tarmac in Tuzla, we now know that Hillary Clinton is an equally brazen but unusually bad liar. http://nymag.com/news/imperialcity/45783/index1.html In 1996, The New York Times columnist William Safire diagnosed Hillary Clinton’s real problem. He called her a “congenital liar.” Congenital is defined as “having by nature a specified character.” Following Hillary Clinton’s health scare Sunday in New York, we may have reached the conclusion author Mary McCarthy did when speaking of playwright Lillian Hellman: “Every word [Hellman] writes is a lie, including ‘and’ and ‘the.’ “ A person’s character is a clue to the entire person and both Clintons have displayed over many years severe character deficiencies. Abraham Lincoln said, “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” Or her. http://www.washingtontimes.com...n-a-congenital-liar/ People had had enough of her by 2016, even many Democrats. They did not want to give her power. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

I'm reading 'Shattered' right now and you is spot on Sigmonkey. The point I'm at right now is that Hillary squeaked out a win in the Iowa Caucus and is way behind Sanders in the days before the New Hampshire primary. Hillary and Bill want to go negative in a big way on Sanders. Her staff, for all their faults, is telling her in no uncertain terms that doing so will backfire and help Sanders. The message is that Hillary's instinct is to fight, and fight dirty, even when that is the wrong thing to do. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell
