In ~1970, I found this partial skull displayed on the mantel of the my great-grandparents farm house in western PA. After making the rounds at my 2nd grade elementary school show & tell it was largely forgotten until recently. I suspect it may be from a fox though I'm not sure. This remaining section appears to have been deliberately removed from the whole skull with a saw. Any thoughts? Thanks!

If you happen to have a university near you you could ask the vertebrate morphology professor to ID it. When I took that course several decades ago the prof made us learn what each vertebrate was by identifying each of the several cranial bones in the skull.
"Know 'em by position" was his mantra and although I can't help you here his saying still rings in my head...
