LS1 GTOHome Security Camera/Recording Systems
(Below is moved from wrong forum.)
So the wife, bless her soul, is now a tad freaked out because somebody in the neighborhood has had their homes broken into and (including ours) unlocked vehicles rummaged through at night - nothing missing out of the cars. We have the guard dog side of things covered but she is my wife and I'd prefer to keep her happy so with that; what are the better brands of security systems out there?
Looking for wired cameras with, if possible to have a combo, two or three wireless cameras about 100-125 yards away (lots of sun if solar power is an option). Also, day/ night (IR) capabilites with at least two lens options (28mm and 55mm) depending on positioning. And finally, at least seven days of hi-def recording, expandable to 28 days (ie, expandable memory).
I plan to install myself when routing other conduit (speakers/ HDMI and CAT-6E).
TIA

4MUL8RI can recall three threads on this subject within the past year. I tried searching for them but did not locate. There was a lot of good info in them.

Black92LXI have been using Blue Iris software and using my PC as a DVR. I like the software quite a bit but does have a learning curve.
I only have 1 cheapo camera at the moment as I wanted to test the software before deciding on cams.
I like that Blue Iris and a PC you aren't really limited on cameras like you are with most NVRs.
Once I add more cameras I'll likely get another PC just for the cams.
This camera comes in high regard from a member here so I am going to get one here soon to see how I like it.

ryan81986These cameras seem to be very popular now. They run on 2 AA batteries and can be viewed online.

BluecobraI have a setup using 3 of the Ring cameras. I have 2 of the Stick-up cams and one of the floodlight cams. The Stick-ups have the solar panel option so they need no wires and transmit the video over the wifi. The floodlight cam is connected to the home wiring and uses the wifi as well.
Due to the way my house is setup I didn't have any easy way to run wires without them being visible. The Ring setup is easy, you can tweak the motion settings, times, etc. Yeah it costs $3 per camera per month, but I can swing that. Plus I can access the videos on my phone and can turn them on remotely whenever I want to.
