Don't go looking for them, let them come to you.

Fire can double in size every 30-60 seconds. It takes long enough for schools to empty sometimes, add in time for a layperson to look around and see if its real and you risk not being able to evacuate in time.

My reply to someone who would suggest leaving is:
1. what makes you think the only thing they want are material possessions? What if their plans include rape and murder and running out the door doesn't alter that.
2. And like above, what could be outside waiting; a car full of several other thugs and now the home owner is exposed and without cover?

I think holing up in a room that one has chosen as their defensible secure room, with phone, light, ammo and firepower would seem more prudent. You know your own house better than any other, make use of that knowledge.

It's logical advice but I'll be in such fear for my life that I couldn't possibly leave my shelter.

How many students have died in school fires, and how many students have been shot at by school shooters while leaving their classrooms after a fire alarm was pulled?

I was taught by Ayoob. Deadbolt on BR door for only wife and myself. Perimeter alarm system in place with cameras - never go to see what is happening!

Call 911

If someone decides to breach Bedroom, greet with
00 Buck x 8 rounds and 9mm x 14 to discourage them.

Extra magazines if required.

I am not paranoid - simply cautious! We are both rather disabled, so leaving is not an option.

That’s incredibly dumb. It sounds like they mixed something up. I remember being told that if someone has captured your family and you’re unarmed it’s statistically best to run and get help? Or something like that?

Leaving a controlled known environment for an unknown one while under threat seems illogical.

I'd disagree.

You know what's in your house. What's waiting outside?

Not sure about giving my wife a gun and leaving her behind, don't want to get accidentally shot she doesn't train with guns.

I'll grab my MPX with the 8 inch barrel chambered in 9x19 Parabellum, and the TI-RANT 45M mounted with the AAC 101650 40/45 Piston and Romeo 4T 1x20mm optic and Sig Foxtrot2R 700 lumen Tactical Light from the above closet door secure mount, grab 3 30 round mags loaded with 147 grain Federal Tactical HST JHP ammo and take up a defensive stance in the Master Bedroom. Then activate the motion sensing Ring internal cams to find out where the intruders are located so to formulate the best path for maximum effectiveness.....

Reminds me of the opening scene house invasion in the movie Red...

I’m also with the rest here that I will rally behind the choke point and defend until the cavalry arrives. Observe, orient, decide, and act. I know my home and where I can defend and where I’d be exposed by at least one side. We have an alarm system, a panic alarm and there are multiple devices available to alert for help. I have weapons available to me in layers with quick access depending on where I am in the house.

Fleeing your home during a home invasion- it's not possible for me to take this advice seriously. Among all the reasons not to do this, is the fact that you have no idea who is out there- how many, and where they are.

Ridiculous, reckless and dangerous

Ditto.

If someone is kicking in my door while I’m here, they aren’t here to steal my crap.

They also won’t get in my house by kicking…

^^^^ This.
A lot depends on the circumstances.
If you're by yourself, time to Alamo up in a room with one door.
If you have family in other bedrooms for example, then much depends on the home layout.
Hopefully you can advance to a point to cover those rooms, or you have a plan in place where they know to consolidate into a single room, which can be more easily covered.

Escaping might be an option for some people in some circumstances. It wouldn't work for me, as there is only one door, with the intruder now between me and it. There would not be time to bust and crawl out of a bedroom window, either.

My last Class for concealed carry included a few bits of WTF. It was the instructor’s personal opinion. If I had written it down I would have used the paper for wiping my rear end with.
