bobtheelfI don't know if I've ever seen a unanimous poll. Currently 76-0.

6gunsSeems like they ought to be worn untucked, but to be honest, I feel I look very sloppy and overweight in an untucked shirt.

Don't be this guy. Ever!!
I do not agree. It takes a lot of confidence to wear a Hawaiian shirt tucked in. And it has to be a great fit. And you want to have a flat stomach. And be on an important date to a nice restaurant. Pretty much removes me from contention.
Generally, this random image I found online sums proper display of one's Hawaiian shirt:

bertoUntucked.
I could see reverse printed tucked in while working at a bank or some other serious type customer facing job in the islands but otherwise no.

ewillsI have 3 Avanti silk Hawaiian shirts I bought in Waikiki about 20 years ago. Amazingly, they still fit. Classic prints, still look cool at least in my opinion. They are worn once in a while, always untucked. If I go out in public wearing one, I usually get comments about my shirt along with some story about a vacation to Hawaii.....
I must add, I have been told I have poor taste in apparel before. I have been caught wearing sandals with socks on. Also, probably wouldn't be the guy who shows up barefoot at your house. Especially because I wasn't even invited!!

They said I could send it back for a refund If I ship it to China at my cost. Probably would cost more than the shirt.
Try
THESE.
100% cotton or rayon. I like cotton at $39.99.
When I moved to Oahu, I asked the factory to change their design for me, a big guy.
They are now changing over their whole line to a 6 button version, like mine.
If you order, ask for the 6 button version while they clear old stock.
I wear those shirts everyday.
Considering that I'v paid over $130.00 per shirt in other stores, it's nice to have wholesale direct made in Hawaii.
Sized correctly.
Nicest people to work with, too.
And, untucked.

If you’re in Hawaii you better take off your shoes before you walk into someone’s house and always untucked or people will laugh at you.

RinehartWear them as you like it-
My first assignment in the Navy was on a sub in Pearl Harbor HI. Got a number of silk Hawaiian shirts (many of which I still have).
One Saturday night I had to go to a party on Waikiki beach. The wind was blowing something fierce and our shirts kept flopping up. We tucked them in (locals and Haoles) and no fashion police descended.
Here's my oldest son and I (he's now 19) sporting some vintage Hawaiian shirts-

NavyGuytucked in? that's like tucking in your suit coat.

sjtillOK! Just ordered 2 shirts from reynspooner.com.
They have a big sale, quite a selection of shirts, list price around $100, on sale for $67, additional 25% off for JULY4TH promo code, final price about $50 each.
They have a good fit/sizing chart to measure yourself and decide what size is for you.
Most of us want the classic fit, not the tailored fit.
