It’s been a bad month for our dogs.

Our female just started chemo again after 9months in remission and one of our males hasn’t been feeling well. My wife took him in and it sounds like it’s a tumor on the spleen with an abdomen full of blood and will need emergency surgery with less than a bright outlook for survival. Edit: he didn’t make it.

Please double check your animals, they hide their illnesses well. We just thought he was feeling off because our female is sick. Last time she had chemo he was mopey and seemed off but he was okay so we thought it was that again. He was doing zoommies this morning.

Sorry to hear it.

Same breed, Alaskan Malamutes’s. Not related to each other. Our female has Lymphoma, which we treated last year and are again this year.

Our male that passed had, we think, Hemangiosarcoma. I requested they test the removed mass for closure. It has a very short term survival period, even after the spleen is removed, it’s aggressive and spreads.

Our newest male is okay so far but a little lonely I think, the older bossed him around but they did rough house in the yard nicely.

The results came back today, it was the Hemangiosarcoma.

Overall, as much as it still sucks for us, I suppose it was probably better this way. He was getting checked out and had a chance. There are so many ways it could have gone worse for him.

Been there and done that several times and it doesn't seem to get any easier. My heart goes out to you.

My girl turned 16YO last February. She getting feeble; can't hear or see very well and has trouble with her hips. Her time is coming soon and I'm trying to prepare for it.
