Stop Talking, Start Doing

Just as we were laying down to bed last night to go to bed I jumped out of bed to multiple shots fired. It was like 5-6 shots, a pause, and then 3-4 more.

I ran to my family room immediately only to see a dark colored SUV speeding off (all of its lights turned off) right in front of. It quickly turned and disappeared.

It has my wife and I pretty shaken.

The young male victim died at the scene (in the driveway). This was just a few houses down from us.

This isn’t something that would be expected to happen around here.

I did call 911 right away and gave them the description of the suspect’s vehicle. I also was able to take a photo but it was way too blurry to make anything out clearly, unfortunately.

Just wanting to get this off my chest a bit, more than anything.

Hanging on to the fact that my wife and kids are okay.

This is just a temporary rental house for us while our new home is being built — wish it was happening sooner now (here until late Summer).

You just never know when stuff like this might happen.

Certainly understandable to be shaken but as you said, thank goodness the family is fine.

Only good thing is this was likely not random. These types of shooting are usually for a reason.

Stay safe

That’s why we quit wintering in Mexico. If it was drug related, it shows how many ways drugs can kill. Stay safe.

When I moved to the Yoop with its low crime rate, I thought I could quit carrying. Then the owner of a small pawn shop (within walking distance from my place) who I had done some business with was senselessly murdered. I re-armed myself right after I heard about it.
You cant escape these events, they can occur anywhere. And I would say you may be at a greater risk in a low crime or higher security area, because you dont expect events like this to happen.

Glad to hear you and your family are OK. Many years ago someone shot up a car parked in front of my townhouse, one shot each time the shooter's car went by (circled the block several times). Six shots to the driver's side of the car. Shooter was caught. Never did learn what it was about. Had not seen that car there prior to that night.

Big time scary. Crime keeps moving from the city out towards the suburbs. Car-jackings are increasing big time.

Fortunately we've been living in a more rural area for over a decade, where the perpetrator would be doing such things at great personal risk.

Everyone needs to get away from that mentality.

It can happen anywhere and it will.

With the malignant spread of social justice, racial equality, sentencing reform, ‘fairness’ for the community and the bastardization of the courts and judicial system, violent felony crimes being reduced to misdemeanors, fines reduced or eliminated, bail reduced or eliminated, defunding of the police, etc., etc., etc., shit like this is going to increase by rates we have never seen before.

It’s going to be a freaking fiasco of epic proportions with dire consequences.

Glad that you and your family are ok Copefree. Although it's a rental can you install some flood-lights to keep the perimeter of the property illuminated?

where in WA was this?

When I worked in WA, I found some areas to be super nice, and other areas to be total Crap-Holes. Hiway 99 in Tacompton, I totally avoided.

On the other hand, the Tri-City area was nice at least most of it. All depends on location, location, location.

Well, my street certainly seems to have improved a little since 2000. Used to see groups of teens congregating in the street smoking and yelling--not seeing that now. One of the DPD Tac officers used to live just north of Walnut a block from me. He lives in Tyler, now, I think.

.....Because the dirt-bags arrive on the new light rail system. It was fine before that.

Never move to an area near where a light-rail station is planned.
