It looks like Dave Ramsey signs off on them. Has anyone used this non-profit? I'm having a pickle of a time with the options that my current employer is offering.

Thanks.

My neighbor uses them or one like them.

It's not so much as health insurance as it's health cost sharing.

I'm skeptical to be honest.

Just because you can,
doesn't mean you should

The problem is that you'll never know until you really need it. There is so much fine print in health insurance contracts and a lot more to know than just the premium and deductible.

I'd be skeptical also and would tend to stay with one of the name brand health insurance companies.

Don’t know too much, other than some of these will not cover preventative charges, such as well visits, or vaccines. And it is a cost sharing plan, not technically an insurance. They usually have a contract with the providers, to have a discount applied, then if there is enough money on the holdings, and the benefit is covered, will send a payment.
But some will just tell the dr to take a discount off the cost, then apply it to your portion, whether a deductible, or they actually call it cost sharing . I’d look into all the info on this if you are thinking about it. One thing to consider, if they are using a network for the discount, make sure your drs accept that network.

My family used them for about 18 months. Only claims we had were for some ER visits. There is a fair amount of paperwork that needs to be filed for each claim. It takes approximately 6 months to be reimbursed as well for each claim as opposed to the the 2-3 months they claim.

They were fine but I would have hated to have had a major accident, cancer, etc... I can't imagine the time that would be needed negotiating bills, filing paperwork and then waiting to get reimbursed for all the bills.
