technically my wife has access to all of the numbers, but if she fails to write them down in her little black book she doesn't know how to (or care to) log into Dashland. I have Dashlane as my password manager, and she can ride along on my account with her own log in and data base (Family plan) with full benefits a password manager offers. But nooo, she says it's too much trouble and won't give up her black book. (Which sits on the counter) "it's so easy" she opines until it's not. I've often watched her struggle to type a 18 character PW on the small iPhone screen. We do each have our faces set up on each other's phones for face ID log in, so that's a big part of the trust part. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves. -D.H. Lawrence

The phone, yes, but not the laptop. She just needs to get her own porn.

Yes to both. We use the same swipe pattern on our phones instead of passcodes. Both the desktop and laptop at home were not configured with a user account. Power it up and there's the desktop. We have separate email accounts but we know each other's passwords. She does not have access to my work laptop. She uses a desktop at work so it doesn’t come home with her. “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

Yes to both. Sigh, reading this thread though, I probably have some work to do putting together a list of accounts and passwords for things she may need access to after my passing. Sigh…

My wife has complete access to everything I have.

I'm retired and apart from a few criminal and civil cases after retirement, I have not and don't plan to practice law. So I see no reason at all not to allow my wife to see anything I have, phone, computer and anything else. I even confess when a new firearm happens to come home with me. Bob

We share a computer so we both have access to it. We have access to each other's phones.

I answered “no” to both, but it has nothing to do with secrecy. There’s nothing to hide, but my wife is horrible with electronics, as in “Oh no! Things are happening!” She has no patience and will click click click away, and has no idea how or why her devices get tied up and/or don’t work properly. If I looked at her computer right now, she probably has over 100 tabs open. Probably 3 or 4 just with Gmail. So my answer is no, just so I can keep my devices working.

Your original post's question asks about wives or significant others. In your post you comment on access to "my ex", which I assume is either ex-wife or ex-SO. My wife has access to my computer and phone, and the reverse is true, too. Would I ever let an "ex" have access? Hell no. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. My wife has access to my phone and computer. But I have no need to keep anything private. If I had a business that required privatization of my clients I would have a work phone separately. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

She has her own laptop and phone, so she doesn’t need access to mine. She could probably figure out the passwords anyway. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. I took it as she is his ex NOW, but maybe not then. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. Yeah, I read it as she had access when married and he's now in a similar situation with the new SO. I figured the ex lost access when she became the ex... idk? Anyway, I answered no to all but that is simply because I'm single right now. If I had a significant other that I was considering making my wife, I would have no problem with her having access to my devices. After all, if I don't trust her there'd be no reason for me to marry her... A Perpetual Disappointment...

Yes, to clarify the ex does not have access to anything, now. Good points about the technical aspects. The Wife To Be is an incredible woman, and prone to lose/break phones/not that tech savvy…
