I know I know every one tells me to just turn my cell phone off.
My wife and I will be going on a Disney cruise later on this year or early next year.
I was wondering if any one uses Boost mobile, has sailed on Disney and done this and if so how?

we went on a disney cruise a few years back...and “unplugged” ourselves from the outside world completely...no cell phones...figured we would come home and find out what happened then.

We’ve taken Disney Cruises the last two years in a row but we only use the app on our iPhones with WiFi. They have wifi data packages deals. I’m not sure but I think that is only in the digital cafe. I always turn OFF data and enjoy being unplugged. The cruises always go way too fast. Sorry that’s probably no help.

Use the "WiFi calling" feature on your phone. This is available in the system menu of most modern phones.

My daughter went. Her phone (straight talk) didn't work. She had to buy wi-fi and use Face thingy or Skype or something like those.

We went on a Holland America cruise a few years ago, and I had to log on to work for a half hour every day. They charged a LOT.

I was never able to get a signal when at sea. We used the satellite internet they offer on the ship, but it’s slow and expensive. I bought the 200 dollar package for the trip to check in at work. Had it burnt up in a day or so.

Download the Disney cruse app on yours phones. You can use it like their intranet. Text, call each other and updates from the ship.

Thanks everyone.
Years ago I had ATT and my phone worked when we were out to sea.
I only used it to call my father to wish him a happy birthday.
We have Boost now and have not been able to find if Boost works on the ship.

Several times. When still at shore link up then immediately turn WiFi off or you will burn you plan while still in port. Run on cell data as much as you can. You would be surprised along the Florida coast you can get some decent service on the way back to port. They sail further out to sea on outbound to Carribean it seems and service drops quicker. I think it cost me about $300 for full blue chip plan but I had to for work so it was worth it.

I just got back from a Disney cruise 2 weeks ago. Download the Disney Cruise line App and you can text between people for free on the ship for free. That’s what we did when we separated.

I think I'd rather pay $300 to not have my phone work for a week. My best vacations are when I am completely off the grid.

My husband & I went on a cruise (not Disney), last year & we have Verizon, but my husband called Verizon, they turned on some sort of international plan & it wasn't super expensive. I didn't tell anyone I left so just kept in touch with everyone as usual.

Call the provider. Some have a presence on the ships, some don't. With T-Mobile I could receive texts for free but sending texts or using data cost extra. Or I might have that backwards. But anyway, call the provider.

The shipboard wifi is expensive, but if you have to have it, you have to have it. FWIW, when we went on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas last year, I had signal at each stop and when we were close to land. That was good enough for me. Download the Disney Cruise app before you embark and you can text each other for free on board.
