Here’s one from yesterday. I was researching dental insurance when I got distracted. I started reading about the lyrics to the song Dixie Chicken by Little Feat that was stuck in my head. That lead me to reading about the back stories of the main band members and some of their supporting cast. That lead me to a video of Linda Ronstadt singing the Little Feat song “Willin’”. In the intro to the song she talks about having a fling with the song’s writer Lowell George. After they met he gave her a quaalude and they had a brief fling for a week until Linda found out Lowell was married when the pissed off wife knocked at her door. She said sorry - I didn’t know, then sang his song.

Then I watched Little Feat live performance videos for an hour. Never did get anywhere on the dental insurance.

It’s nice to be retired.

While looking up "how to" videos last evening I wound up on an Audie Murphy movie I did not recall "Battle at bloody beach". After that it was WWII in the Philippines, Steam Punk, Shuffle dancing (how do they do that) and Zombie movie shorts.

Now back to the "How To" video.

Thanks a lot! I just went down another one while trying to see what shuffle dancing was! Now I have a lineup of Bad Lip Reading, Why JFK's Casket Was Closed, and quite a few more to watch!!!

Google Maps is my downfall.

Can start either by searching for something I remember from past travels, or trying to get a sense of terrain mentioned in military history books.

Then it's not long before it morphs into less relevant questions like "I wonder if you can see the African Coast from Gibraltar?" and then "What do houses look like in Ulan Bator" and "What does the shore of Lake Baikal look like?" become must-know items.
