Went to the rifle range today and as always we have to check the guns in/check for bore obstructions on the way. So like I have always done, I un-case and clear and present an AR and an air rifle. After doing so while packing up the crusty ole' range officer says. "I want to shake your hand sir." Huh, what, who, me??? I said sure why?? He said "you sir never crossed your muzzle across me or anybody else in here and you NEVER HAVE." I guess I shouldn't be excited about doing something I should be doing but I guess they notice that I always go out of my way to make sure my muzzle stays in a safe direction no matter how many folks in there. I just thought it was nice. Take care, shoot safe. Chris "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

That not everyone at public ranges observes even this basic safety rule is the main reason I don't got to them. Those people scare the hell out of me. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

You don’t fix faith, River. It fixes you. |
That's a very nice compliment. Seems like such a simple thing on your part, but to him it's probably like a breath of fresh air. Or a reason to keep having faith in humanity. He's probably gone home hoarse on some days trying to keep idiots from killing themselves with stupidity! ---------------------------------- "If you are not prepared to use force to defend civilization, then be prepared to accept barbarism.." - Thomas Sowell

The R.O at our club used to tell shooters my son, 10 yo old at the time, was the safest shooter on the line (also one of the best). Safety rules are like kindergarten rules, real simple stuff. That is why I never shoot at my range on weekends, just too many weekend warriors who don't practice safety rules. Great compliment, most people do not notice when you do something right. I had a friend who lives in Fla say he bought a new Ruger AR and has not shot it yet in 9 months. He came to visit another friend and they came out to my property to have me teach him about ARs. We had one 17 y.o. boy, 1 14 y.o. girl, my friend, another man and his wife. The safety they all exhibited was very surprising to me. We shot 2 pistols and 4 rifles. I sighted his new AR in and showed him how to use it. Partial dichotomy |
One thing I'll never forget from a teacher at SIGarms Academy....I forget his first name, but some of you old timers who were there years ago....his last name was Harris. He said, always imagine a laser beam constantly coming out of your barrel. Worked for me.
