I just heard from Otto. I’m sure he’ll update this when he has time but I thought I would brag for him a little.
He had his “push practical” exam today which is one of the "real world" evaluations he is graded on during his RDC training.

He killed it with a 95%

I’ll let him fill in the details when he finds some free time but great job.

Nicely done, good work Otto!

A Police LT around here is typically either a shift or a division commander.

Our local SO has LTs in charge of Patrol, Detectives, the Jail, etc. For them it's a pretty high-level admin position that sits in an office and they report directly to the Chief Deputy.

Our biggest local PD uses the LT rank for shift commanders, so they're still line-level guys who work the road out of a patrol car, but are in charge of the shift. Traditionally that's more of a sergeant type role in a lot of places, and used to be there as well, but they switched it to LT a few years back, I suspect as a way to provide a pay raise without having to give one to everybody. It's not a desk job but still a pretty senior position.

Do they still do the Rent-A-Rick program for the holidays?

Congratulations! Hugh milestone for your career.
I got your email, good choice in moving to the new ship and taking the opportunity of your new partner. I think your choice to ask to pick up right away instead of waiting around this time of the year will pay off big time come the summer surge. When it gets hectic next summer you will be well seasoned and have a handle on the job.

Do you volunteer to work any of the JROTC drill meets? I know they have RDCs judging them. We will be at East Aurora this Saturday and Wheeling HS on 7 Feb.

I saw the email Valpo and thought about you. Unfortunately I am on push right now so I’ll be working Saturday 0600-2100. I figured when I get some time off in between pushes I’ll check out some of those.

Drill is one of my favorite parts of boot camp.
