It's definitely amazing what you can get in amps these days. I just grabbed a basic Tung Sol and it made a huge difference. As P220 said, given this is a modeling amp, the tube only gives a better response. I thought the amp had gone bad or maybe the speaker was toast, hardly a concern as I have the power knob on the back set around 40% to keep from blasting me out of the room so no chance of blowing anything. I had forgotten it had a tube in there and since it is about 15 years old, it seemed like that might be the culprit. It really sounds 100% better now. I was really concerned as I picked up a 1988 Charvel Model 6 a few years ago and it never sounded right. Sounded ratty and couldn't pull a harmonic out of it to save my life. I tell you what it screams now I was rocking some Dokken earlier tonight driven through a GT-1 I love this guitar!!! Fender has a modeled version of both their Twin and Deluxe under the name “Tone Master” and people seem to really like them. I have a Mustang IIIv2 and it’s a bit too versatile for me. Very complex modeling abilities. | |||
