Yep. Actually, the budget imbalance and the debt sustainability are worse than the rest of them. Illinois and NJ are in a race for first state to default. It'll be interesting.
What will the USA say to states that default?
It will be a defining moment. We can let IL, CA, NY and NJ pull down the entire country... or we can tell them they are on their own.

And none of the democrats in charge are even talking about this, rather they are talking about more spending and raises for state employees. The voters here in Illinois never seem to learn and think the solution to Illinois problems is even more democrat control Mad, or it could mean that those fleeing the state are mostly republicans.

I certainly hope that states like Illinois and NJ are told they are on their own but I suppose that will depend on who is in the white house and controls congress at the time. About the only thing that could done at the federal level would be to transfer state debt to national debt. At this point what is a few more trillion dollars? Roll Eyes

Yes, that's what happens with long-term democrat socialist control... eventually anyone with a decent job has to flee and all you're left with is the free-shit army and government employees.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

One of our sites at work is in Chicago. It’s a large site. We had some Illinois folks in town last week. I am amazed at how many of our people say fuck Chicago, Illinois in general, and live in either Wisconsin or Indiana and commute in. They wanted me in Chicago this coming week for some training with a vendor as I’m the lead for the application and use. My boss didn’t even ask me to go as she knows I’d say no.

Best of luck to our Illinois members. My friends there (one in Springfield) always educate me about that state’s bullshit. My friend always tells me nothing will change there due to Chicago. They dictate the whole state and they all hate it.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Unfortunately, the only luck in this state is bad luck. It should be hilarious how many new taxing programs will be put in place the next couple years. Then they will whine that there are not enough people left and they have to raise again.

There is a brief thought about an amendment to the Illinois Constitution allowing changes to pension benefits already in place. I give that a snowballs chance in hell of that passing considering those wonderfully enriching pensions are what kept them in control the last 40 years.

Sickening.

https://lmtdefense.com/ is building a new plant across the Mississippi in Eldridge, IA, about 10 miles from Milan IL.

https://www.armalite.com/ has (had?) a plant in Geneseo IL, but they got bought out by Strategic Armory Corps and I've heard production is moving to AZ. On the top of the Armalite link it says "NOTICE: We're moving! Shipping on orders placed at this time may be delayed." That suggests the IL plant will soon be empty.

https://www.lesbaer.com/ moved from IL to Iowa about ten years ago.

Still have family in IL though, and gun owners at that. But no amount of talking with them has convinced them to head on to greener pastures. Yet.

Up until this election Mrs M-11 had no desire to move from IL. If the gov-elect has his way and passes an odometer tax, I think she'll reconsider. I have 2 yrs to convince her, when we both retire.

I grew up hunting and fishing near Springfield and left for the Air Force in 1969. My Dad was fond of saying that Springfield was the place crooked politicians from Chicago came to get their bribes.

I got my first Illinois FOID card when they first started the program when I was 16. I had done two tours in Southeast Asia and came home on leave to visit my parents and was invited by friends to go on a rabbit hunt. My FOID card had expired while I was overseas and I could not buy a box of shotgun shells in Illinois, despite my active duty ID card and law enforcement credentials. This nonsense has been going on there for more than 50 years. I don't blame all Illinois residents so much for this-there is the Illinois north of I-80 which is liberal, and there are so damn many of them. The part that is south of I-80 is mostly pro-hunting and pro-2nd amendment.

Every state is in danger of being dominated by the ideas of their major population centers. Thank goodness we have the Electoral College on the national level.

Yeah it sucks that a handful of counties have ruined the whole state with of course Crook County being the malignant cancer. I live in DuPage county that used to be solid republican a few decades ago and it now has turned blue. Both Peter Roskam and Christine Winger lost in the last election and I now have ZERO republicans representing me at the federal or state level which is the first time in my 67 years. As I said earlier I have finally convinced wife that it will be in our best interest to get the hell out. I expect we will take a bath on our home as tens of thousands are fleeing Illinois yearly and already the real estate market stinks around here due to the sky high property taxes and it is only going to get worse.

We have friends in Naperville. That used to be such a great area. I feel your pain. The demographics of St. Louis County (the ring county around St. Louis City) are rapidly going in the same direction. 2010 was probably our last decent shot at a Republican County Executive, but Bill Corrigan finished short.
