Apparently, these people are completely unaware of the generous "campaign donations" made by these towers. It's always been bad but even Steve Goodman wrote a song about the Chicago thieves running this racket.

I think in TX it used to be “first wrecker there, got the tow”. That may have backed off, because the tow trucks drove like madmen racing to accidents.

Frankly, I was irritated in Charleston with the tow companies.

A) They prefer to boot, and get $75 rather than tow.
B) They will neither tow nor boot a car if some a—-hole puts a patch in the dash which says “POLICE”…

It was true in 1980 give or take when I worked TV news in Houston. Three classes of vehicles had free reins back then -- E-tag wreckers, cabs and news vehicles. It was like floating on a cloud Smile .
