I wasn't going to say the name but it was Meijer, which I'm usually happy with. I normally shop at 10 AM, not 9PM.
Cincinnati is dominated by Kroger and Walmart and a few Meijer's. I wish we had Publix.

I shop Amazon for things not available locally, small town KS needs local merchants to survive.

Do my best to buy local.

Interesting this popped up in my X threads....

Lately Amazon has missed a lot of promised delivery times.

They promise next day but the stuff is showing up days late.

More than once I cancelled an order and dragged my lazy ass out to pick something up locally to get it when I needed it.

This. I'm still waiting on some spark plugs that were supposed to be delivered Saturday, then Sunday, then yesterday. Still not here.

Yes Amazon is.

I can compare prices sitting on my couch. Two cases in point within the last three months. John Deere had a spring promotional discount on certain replacement parts, 20% off. Optional dealer participation. I needed the hopper lid for my grass catcher. Local dealer wasn’t particating and while their nearest store that had it was 50+ miles away. The discount was 60-70 dollar range plus free shipping.

Needed an engine oil pan for our Jeep Liberty. Local auto parts stores I don’t have an “in” with for discounts so it’s full tilt walk in street price, $110.00 Amazon, same Dorman oil pan less than $70.

Than yesterday I took my grandson to a brick and mortar book store, he’s eight Y/O and getting into history. And also learning the concept of money, saving for things he wants and budgeting. This store is pretty good sized, college town. It’s been enlarged since last time I was in there so I had to ask where the local/Michigan section was. The clerk, older but younger than I responds with a clipped “this way” and leads us there.

Sure pal, I get it. Judging by appearance you’re in your 50’s and maybe this isn’t how you planned your life but make the best of it, I sensed that you didn’t want to be there. So we go to there, two racks of Michigan History, greatly reduced from the last time I was there a couple years ago.
I’ll bet they have a lot more in the gender studies and enslavement categories though.

My grandson was pretty proud, he brought his own money and made a point of telling me so. He picked out a book, a key chain for his mom and a coffee cup for grandma. Went to pay, he was about ten dollars short. Same clerk at cash out, barely anyone in the store, opened about a hour before we got there and nobody behind us. So I’m trying to have a teaching moment about budgeting and the clerk is giving me “the stare”, like that’s going to intimidate me. I had no cash except a five, I never carry any. So I added my purchase to my grandson’s, gave him his money back and paid with my CC.all the while “the stare” is in progress.

Everybody’s different but damn, at least greet a customer with a little warmth even if you’re faking it. And cut some slack when dealing with an eight year old and his grandpa in a teaching moment. Maybe it’s a college town, maybe you’re college educated, maybe not. But don’t throw off the “I’m better than you” attitude. I could have saved five bucks for new or half price used plus 60 miles driving/gas by buying it from Amazon but I chose to go to your store.
