Here in Kentucky, we have a horse park. Its pretty to look at from I-75, and no tax money was spared in its construction. Better than wasting it on social justice BS. So this is a smaller show put on in an arena, in one of the side rooms. The promoter is suffering from success and has learned to put the tables so close together its nearly impossible to pass someone. The earlier comments about summer shows just don't apply here. And of course I decided to bring along my GO-GO scooter to ride around in comfort. That didn't go so well. Its always been a problem passing the inconsiderate standing around doing nothing. One of the more important things is to leave the disinterested wife and bratty kids at home. Or at least out in the hot car in the sun. Often the pouting wife is "jostled" as she stands motionless making sure she blocks any movement. Pisses her off no end, but she deserves it. Usually making full use of her ample posterior to impede any travel. This is the first time I've tried to browse a show in a powered cart. Learning manners in a crowded room should be a course in all grade schools. Not just a single year, every year and required to pass. But the show was pretty darn good considering. Lots of interesting stuff to see, and the browsers were of interest. The table next to us was occupied by a guy and girl selling stuff to wear on you wrist, supposedly to make you no suffer pain. But the were impressed at how nice everyone was. Its kind of a thing here in KY, be polite. Or maybe get shot, who knows. I did better than usual, selling $440 worth of grips. A guy at the end cap opposite us had an interesting scope. It was a Tasco 1-8x and he wanted $25 for it, but sold it to me for $20. It had a large, clunky chunk of metal with the scope rings. That base weighed significanly more than the scope. Later some guy walking past wanted to buy it. He said it was for a Winchester 94. Guess there goes another of my plans, maybe. I do happen to have a clunky old 94 in 32 Winchester, but its got one of those flip up receiver sights. Guess its decision time. I failed in my search for a p210a and a Hi Point with the printed bills. But its all OK because I forgot and left my money at home. The food was good. Unlike the vast majority of gun shows. I figured it would be because it has been in the past at this venue. One of the hallmarks of Ron Dickson's shows is terrible concessions. He actually had such good food about 20 years ago I looked forward to it. Maybe the mafia or just the fairgrounds got greedy. Bad food, higher prices, a thing to be expected. Parking is good, too. They now charge $5 but there are tons of spaces. And you don't have to hike a mile or two. Better still, no graduation ceremonies with people who don't know how to drive. Unhappy ammo seeker

You need an enabler. I'll explain. When I lived in Alaska, the biggest gun show took place at Wasilla High School and was sponsored by the Hockey boosters. My buddy and I went and apparently his wife was watching the debit and credit cards like a hawk. My buddy found something he liked, but didn't have enough cash so I loaned him some. On the way home, we swung by the ATM and he paid me back. Upon arriving at his house, his wife inquired "how come you got money from the ATM 5 minutes before arriving home?" She heard the answer, and then called me an enabler. Did you have any luck peddling the 639? I always liked those.

No, but my table pardner Joe said they about wore it out handling it. Its an interesting gun, and by the time they made it, most of the early problems with 39s were worked out. After a while you get annoyed a little. I have no idea what happened to the price card, but it vanished. Shoulda printed up another, but didn't bother. So eventually a guy asks what I wanted for it. So kind of straight faced I told him I wanted a thousand, but would also like $5000. Then my buddy Joe couldn't keep a straight face and laughed. So I told him I'd like $700, but would take $600. Somehow the wood grips for my M329 came along so I put them on the table. One guy wanted them, but only wanted to pay too little. I finally I agreed to sell them for $40. They had a little problem, no screw. He asked where the grip screw was and I told him Lowes. Yeah, I'm a prick at times. Worse, I really didn't want to sell them. Unhappy ammo seeker

OH, I left out one of my purchases. A guy at a table had a box of p38s and another of P51s. Realizing my Jeep didn't have an opener of any kind in it, I bought one of each. I think its how jeeps go from light vehicles to slugs. Tons of absolutely necessary ballast added. Unhappy ammo seeker

I wheeled a WW2 Veteran through a crowded local show which was much the same. I believe it was the only Gun Show he had ever seen. Parkinsins kept him from walking freely. We both enjoyed the show.

I always wondered about the Georgetown show, but never went. I'm usually working in a gun store on that Saturday. We probably have more "classic" firearms than the show did. I know what you mean about Ron. His shows have pretty much gone to crap. And the same TV commercial for about 30 years now.
