It’s time for cameras for my house. I like the flood light/camera option that Ring has. Does anyone use their system and have an opinion of it? Or is there a better option I could look at? Thanks in advance.

So I have a full home camera system I installed long ago that records to a local DVR in my home and I can access remotely. It records all parts of my driveway, yard and front door. I recently decided to add the Ring Floodlight Cam Pro to monitor the driveway and I am not too happy with it. It is located RIGHT outside our bedroom window as that is where I had an old motion floodlight and I used the receptacle to hard wire the Ring floodlight camera. I have set up the motion sensitivity and motion detection area on the Ring camera and messed with it so many times to try and over come my problems with zero success. The floodlight on the camera literally goes off probably 5 times per minutes for absolutely no reason. It wakes me up because my eyes see the light while sleeping and my other camera was sending me like a hundred motion alerts per night since it detected the light coming on as motion. So I have had to completely turn off the floodlight on the Ring Floodlight Cam Pro which is pretty stupid as that is half the purpose. The floodlights turned on because they supposedly detected motion, but the camera motion was never triggered to record. Apparently the motion detection for the camera and light are separate and the motion for the camera is far better. That is a dumb design to me. They should be the same detection. This has nothing to do with the camera, but another frustration. I had the Ring camera setup to give me an audio notification on my phone during the night if it detected motion on our vehicles in the driveway. We have lot of car burglaries happening of course between 2-4am. EVERY night I was being woken up thinking someone was at our vehicles to find out it is roaming cats. So now I had to turn off notifications. There are about 6 different cats that set off the motion every night. So I have a Ring floodlight camera that I had to disable the floodlight and also disable notifications if it video records motion. Not too happy with it. Maybe you will have better luck. I have read people having my problem and others not.

I have had Ring for years but they are at the end of life so I'm getting Wyze outdoor cams and using their cloud storage. I have use them at a commercial building for my business and they've been great. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

We have been using the Ring doorbell (camera) for the last few years and are relatively happy with it. The only drawback we have, and it may be due to the location of our router, is to be able to use the 2 way communication feature. We do get a lot of false notifications during certain times of the year due to the sun reflecting off of passing cars. One of the drawbacks is you get so used to hearing the notification that you ignore it. As far as the Ring camera we just installed one today overlooking our driveway and front yard/street. The camera I added to our system was the Stick up Cam Plug-in. This camera is designed for indoor or outdoor use. Installation was fairly easy because it comes with a plug, that I plugged into the outside power outlet, however, I did buy the battery as a back up in case of power failures. As far as I am told by Ring by having the battery I don't have to reinstall the camera on our app if the power goes out. So far it seems to have a good picture and using the 2 way communicator my wife can hear me from the street (30 ft appx) but I could hear her talking back to me but it was not very loud. The camera we bought did not come with the battery, we ordered it separately. We bought them both from Amazon. We pay for the Cloud storage ($30 per year) for the door bell. We haven't looked into the cost for the additional storage yet. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. I just replaced a broken ancient security camera system with 4 Arlo devices 3 cameras (Pro 4) and the Arlo version of the Ring doorbell, so far, all is good, I can adjust the area it triggers on , and the delay or lag between when it is tripped and I get an alert is ~15 seconds https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

We just replaced our Blink cameras with Arlo. We have a few essential, pro 4, and ultra models and a doorbell. We tried just connecting all via Wi-Fi only individually and couldn’t keep a stable connection. Not sure if the cameras were the problem or our router. We added their base station and it has been rock solid since. Now I can record locally on the base station if needed.

We are happy with the Ring doorbell. The user can set different zones in the visual field with varying sensitivity, so areas like the street can be ignored. Idk if the cameras do this, but it works very well on the doorbell. The subscription price is cheap, and the app runs great on my older ipad, 2 yr old iphone, and the wife's newer ipad and iphone. We will be adding some Ring cameras this summer.

Vivint here. 5 cameras. Doorbell, driveway, both front corners (facing the gates) and a living room cam. Happy with it so far. Quality is good, and easy to use via the app or the in home panel. The Enemy's gate is down.

Did a simple Arlo setup for my mother. Great system been up and going for years now with zero issues. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. I have Wyze cams set up as baby monitors in our kid’s rooms and they have been great. Was going to buy the Wyze doorbell cam but did a lot of research and Arlo seemed to be top rated, I bought a battery Arlo for our front door but haven’t installed it yet as we are replacing the door and frame this summer. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

I have used simple safe for about 4 years now. $27.99 for alarm with all cameras, if alarm goes off they have access to view cameras (you can choose not to do this as well). Great system and easy to setup. Have Glass breakage, window and door sensors, smoke and carbon monozide, temperature, and water sensors. Really like company when 3G ended they didnt mess around. Had us order at no cost the replacement 4G controller and sent it out. Good instructions, put it in and working perfectly. Can set actual alarm or set certain sensors to alert only (like the one on the liquor cabinet and gun cabinent. So i get a notification on my phone).

Look at Eufy, particularly if you’re doing this yourself and have decent WiFi in your home. Local storage, no fees and encrypted. Can be used with Apple HomeKit, but you loose resolution from 2K back to 1080 due to Apple’s protocols. ———- Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for thou art crunchy and taste good with catsup.

We have an Arlo doorbell and 4 Arlo Ultra cameras and router. Their software works well, has been very reliable. I bought a solar charger for each of the Ultra cameras; have never had to plug them in to AC since installation. Will be adding 2 more Arlo Ultras. Subscribe to their service so it keeps video history. Very satisfied! _________________________ “ What all the wise men promised has not happened, and what all the damned fools said would happen has come to pass.”— Lord Melbourne

We have a Nest doorbell. I can access it through the same app as my Nest thermostats, and it has night vision. Happy so far. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. I use the whole Ring enchilada, cameras, doorbell, alarm with motion sensors, glass sensors, even light bulbs. I went through simply safe and nest before settling on Ring. 95% of the time I have no issues. Occasionally something will lose it’s connection but it’s a quick fix to straighten out. We have 3 RING stickup cams (110V w/batteries) and 2 doorbells (line powered w/batteries). We've had motion-detecting floodlights working for many years, so lighting was not a problem. They are very customizable and I occasionally will tweak a setting just to see if it works better for us. These all work very well with a RING Alarm Pro system and we'd do this all over again if need be. They are a very stable system for us.

I have a Ubiquiti system. Several cameras including a few doorbells, and it also does my WiFi and security. It's not cheap, but my DVR is in my home, not the cloud.

We have had a Ring system (3 cameras, motion detectors, door alarms) for over 3 years now. Doorbell camera works great as does the inside camera. The one 'watching' the drive, front yard is good, i get tired of charging the battery. All in all, we are happy with the system, no issues or problems.

I went with a Lorex system. 10 cameras and pro DVR. I was tired of fecking around with Wi-Fi and batteries. _____________________________ Pledge allegiance or pack your bag!
