A case of stupid games stupid prizes it would seem.


A Chicago man is in critical condition in the hospital after being shot in the face after infiltrating a SWAT team training exercise.

The unnamed man was picking up personal property from the evidence collection center at Homan Square in Chicago.

He scaled a fire escape five floors and entered the building, interrupting a training exercise for the city's SWAT team.

He grabbed two of the weapons and pointed them at officers, who shot him in the face with live rounds in retaliation.

The man is now in the hospital recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The man involved has a 'lengthy' criminal history of arrests, according to Chicago Police Chief David Brown.

It's unclear whether the officers involved in the SWAT training knew that the guns contained live rounds or rubber pellets.

The incident is now under investigation.

Damn shame they didn't kill him and save the taxpayers from years of supporting someone with a "lengthy" criminal history.

And the reporter should be busted back to English 101, "shot him in retaliation"?!?!?! For the love of Mike, ever hear of self defense? Or should they let the bad guys get off a few rounds before returning fire? I guess they no longer care about blatantly exposing their biases.

Kudos to the brave and dedicated officers of the CPD that continue to do their jobs in that environment.

Yeah, when I have a legitimate reason to go to the PD, I always go in through the fire escape. Saves time.

And also I agree "in retaliation" is a goofy way to phrase what happened. Now if they found him on the street the next day and shot him, that would be retaliation I guess.

They shot in in retaliation? Isn't "Retaliation" a small town, just southwest of Peoria?

I assume that news reporting gets a lot of things wrong. I'm guessing that he was shot with whatever training ammo they were using, which would explain them shooting him in the face. It's possible he got shot with live rounds and "SWAT Team" members shot him in the jaw.

I find it improbable that they would allow live rounds in the same room as a training scenario with training rounds. That's a recipe for disaster.

Also, I would think that if they indeed had live rounds they would have shot him in the torso and not tried to take a head shot.

Is he still alive? To bad if he is.

Same for Chicago and the gangs. Actually doing society a favor IMO. There will always be collateral damage too.
