Portable generator/inverters, get them ready.
Just took my Predator out of the the garage. Starts. Runs. Get gasoline. Get ready.

Rain, snow and wind starting tonight last I heard. Much easier taking it out of the garage side door than the shed at three A.M. which is my usual luck.

Just a reminder friends.

DTE…….

Pleasantly surprised though. The battery for the starter held a charge over the summer, I started it about September and ran it for maybe fifteen minutes without much thought, out of sight out of mind. It was pricey but eleven hours last February’s ice storm with no power it was a bargain, I got to Harbor Freight just as the doors opened and there was a line already. Got the last one available.

I replaced a twenty year old Coleman with less wattage that had low output, kept putting it off until SHTF.

Whole house propane fired autostart/autotransfer - No fuss, no muss! Big Grin

I just billed out repair costs on two portables. Guy decided to get them fixed AFTER the last big storm. Probably wise, there's another one predicted.

Usual stuff, ethanol rotted gas lines, old stale gas and water and crud in the tanks. Little one didn't look like it had ever been run, just sat outdoors for however long. Big one had some hours on it and the oil looked like tar.

I have two portables . I ran both of them this morning . We are so far south that I don't expect any snow or ice but they were due to be exercised anyway .

Feel for you guys. I traded endless winter for endless summer. I remember the days of snow tires, and road conditions. To borrow a phrase from Garrison Keelor, Minnesota in the winter is Lutherans sitting around the living room eating Jello and discussing road conditions.

Specifically, GREEN jello with celery in it.

Bleah...

We priced them and I was in shock with the multiple estimates we received not to mention contradictions where it could be located, whether or not we would require the gas company to change our meter, two estimators said no, one said yes.
