props for a good American made flashlight for under $20
It has been a few years but lately I have had a couple chicom flashlights bite the dust. So a local feed, farm and firearms store I was in had the Mini mag light for sale. It is the 2-AA led light. So not a pocket light. But a made in the USA light for under $20. Bought. Assembled this evening. Took it out tonight. An excellent light. Two settings. With a SOS function. Also has a candle light function. Which is kind of cool. If you were ever in need of some minimal light for extended periods this would provide. The adjustable beam works well I was easily able to see 60-70 yds with it on the lower power setting.

A real performer for under $20. If I need to go outside in the pitch black to investigate something. This light would be very good.

I think for $ one would be hard pressed to be better equipped.

And American made means something to me.

That model looks to be discontinued at a few online options, (HD & BestBuy). $30+ on Amazon.
Still not a bad deal & would be good to stash a few in the cars & such.
Will have to keep an eye out next time I'm out.

LED or incandescent?

The problem I have had with mini mag lights is the difficulty with replacing the batteries when they eventually go dead.

I found what you said riveting.

I was a little disappointed when I saw it’s made in Ontario, CA. At least until I figured out CA was California and not Canada. Smile

If When the batteries swell and/or leak, it's a real pain to get them out of that aluminum tube.

That is true of any flashlight. has nothing to do with maglite's. I have had it happen on a few occasion's with Fenix and others.

100% my own fault. Left some D batteries for too long in a 4 cell mag light. Older incandescent model that got replaced with smaller much brighter LED lights that get used often. Went to go get it one day and the batteries had leaked and that was that. They were stuck to the tune and not coming out. Mag lite cust service said go buy another. I spose it’s good for a club at that point but into the trash it went. Original reason I bought it back when I was 18 To keep in the car for self defense.

I keep my 4 D cell Maglite in the nightstand next to my P229.
I replaced the bulb, reflector and lens with Malkoff parts.
It's a great light now. I take the Dura-leaks out once a month
to be sure they are not leaking.

That model # comes up for $24.50 at the maglite.com website.

Seems like a good value and I would not feel terrible if I lost it.

Use lithium batteries (like Duracell Optimum/Energizer Ultimate/etc.). They'll never swell or leak. Problem solved.
