He didn't have a warrant or some other judicial order to seize the gun? His badge certainly isn't enough, absent some emergency or other exigency.

A video I saw with breakdown of events by a lawyer said the husband bought the shotgun, NICS check didn’t come back, three days passed, gun shop told him to come pick it up and he did. NICS later determined he was a prohibited person, sent AFT agent Burke to follow up. Follow up, not seize the shotgun or attempt to enter the home without a warrant. He banged on the door, told the guy’s wife she had to let him in, she said she wouldn’t because her husband wasn’t home, Burke threatened to wait all night if he had to and continued to pound on the door. Wife didn’t know anything about it, English isn’t her first language, she called 911 because there was a guy trying to get in her house claiming to be a police officer. Dickhead refuse to comply with lawful commands in a way that would’ve gotten you or me shot, and got cuffed and stuffed for it, then turned around and sued like the little bitch he is.

Example # 53,274 of why one needs to simply follow the commands of the police.

Same video as already shared, but I like how this YouTube channel includes detailed references to State and Federal Laws:

So the narrator in sleepla8ter's video is not a lawyer (he states as much in the introduction) and is most likely not a police officer, or at least not a law enforcement official with any real street time. Yet, he he's going to grade both the ATF agent and the responding police based on just the body cam footage?

That's it. Just the body cam.

KevinCW was correct. There was a lot of stupid in play here. Most of it coming from the ATF agent.

Could the street cops have handled it differently? Probably. Should they have handled it differently? Maybe.

I am not ready to second guess the street cops without more information however.

What was the dispatch call's actual designation?

Was police impersonation a thing at that time as a way for bad guys to pull off robberies or home invasions?

Was there recent prior calls of a mentally disturbed person (or persons) in that area causing problems and occasionally stating they were law enforcement? (This happens far more than people realize. If I had a dollar every time some mental midget claimed to be a cop or federal agent, well...I wouldn't have enough to retire but I sure could make a few house payments).

What is the neighborhood make up? Drugs commonplace? Homeless issues? Claiming to be a cop to buy time to fight or flee is not unheard of.

These are just a few of the more common concerns a responding officer might be considering. There's more, but you get the idea.

As to the ATF agent's badge and ID-you can buy that shit online and have been able to for years. If I hadn't known that was a federal agent going into the video I wouldn't have believed that clown either. Not with his behavior, demeanor, lack of identifying items (marked polo shirt, badge visible etc) and all the accompanying drama from demanding the street cops respect his authori-tah to him whining about medical conditions and not being able to breath.

Fucking A, I concur.

Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Side note - the cops are fucking idiots. In fact, all of them are. I would have handled that much more professionally with no one getting tazed or anything.

There is a lesson to be learned here. If the police give you a command you don't argue, you do exactly what you are told to do without hesitation. I'll also note that it's NEVER useful to argue with the police, you aren't in a Court and his only options are to defer placing charges or locking you up. Note, piss off a police officer and he's not going to consider defering any citations or charges.

BTW, I learned this lesson many many years ago from a Ohio Highway Patrol Sergent on a coffee break at the gas station I worked at. Doing as instructed and being polite to a police officer has earned me so many warning that I cannot sum them up. At present I have 26 years of driving without any citation.

I've stopped counting.

I agree with the analysis of this thread I don't agree with the use of two terms by the OP that have been outside reasonable discourse for 30 years now.

I would agree but the word that I wanted to use in the title had a 'ckers' in it and I figured it was the closest offensive term I could use to actually describe the offending subject

sometimes words have a useful place when it comes to accurate and appropriate descriptions

I thought I was fairly restrained

Wow. This guy needs a mental evaluation. Those officers should get a medal for how well they handle that.

Did he really say “don’t taze me, my wife is pregnant!” ? Pure gold.

How does he still have a job doing anything other than pushing a broom, let alone anything law enforcement related after allegedly stealing wine from the supermarket?

I'm with goose on this. Doesn't offend me, but it certainly does nothing to dispel the notion that conservative gun owners are knuckle dragging backwoods ignorant bigots. Foul language is one thing, but if you have to use vulgar slurs against a group of innocent people in order to express your feelings maybe you're the one who should "grow the fuck up".

Maybe they shouldn't take offense...maybe they should wear it as a badge of honor and have it emblazoned on their cool blue wind breakers. That'll show us knuckle draggin backwoods ingant bigots! Get a fucking life. I'll tell you the same thing I tell every whiney piece of shit that complains about words hurting their precious fe-fe's: Words are only given the power YOU give them! If you give them the power to make you wanna curl up into the fetal position while sucking a binky, that's on you. This mollycoddling bullshit needs to stop. You and goose think it's hurtful----The other 79K of us members took no offense and may have even found delight in the play on their acronym, so boo fucking hoo. You're underrepresented and the majority wins!
