"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Situation awareness is defined as a continuous extraction of environmental information, integration of this information with previous knowledge to form a coherent mental picture in directing further perception and anticipating future events. Simply put, situational awareness mean knowing what is going on around you.

But, how would that be helpful to your 18 year old self? like, he should invest in it? Avoid it? Focus his life on getting it?

Don't. Overthink. It.

Assuming that this would have been accomplished by me traveling in time back to 1955 or 1956, stock market recommendations would not be reasonable (most stocks mentioned by others didn't even exist then). So, my advice would be:

Hunt with dad

(My father was a bird hunter, later deer hunter, but I didn't want to hunt. He also loved baseball and I was a flop at it. I have regretted my whole midlife onward that I did not make the effort to "bond" with my father in at least one of the activities that he loved.)

Stay in school---

I was smart enough, could have kicked ass I think. But I chose my life as a plumber, hard on my body, but good to me overall. No regrets

Seeing as how most 18 year old don't have money to buy stock, all that sounds stupid.

I'd say that three-way in college turns south quick, trust your gut, grandpa dies on April 18th 2008 - leave the next day to get up there, Roger has cancer - tell him to see a Dr ASAP, and don't buy that shitty townhouse.
