Property tax went down
What will finally push citizens over the edge with the excessive taxation and govt waste of our tax dollars? Property taxes are the worst in my mind. I could own a lot nicer place if it were not for the perpetual taxes on it.

School systems eating up a majority of our property taxes….where do I begin.

When we were raising our kids in VA approximately 60% of our property taxes went to the school system. The schools in our county were so bad that no matter what we weren’t going to send our kids there so what did we do? Sent them to private Catholic schools which were much better but of course set us back several thousand dollars per kid per year. Do you think there was any way to recoup our cost via a tax credit or some other mechanism since we weren’t using the schools. No way Jose! We were screwed! But in the long run the investment with our kids paid off.

That's appalling! My property tax is $1,711 for the year which is on all the acreage, home and garage built in 2003, 1,100' shop building built in 2019, 1,000' garage built two years ago, and an old house built in 1800's. And thankfully personal property tax on vehicles was done away with.

Texas also has a high sales tax IIRC. But no income tax helps especially if you're wealthy. Here we're taxed 4 1/2% on net income over $60,000. They get us one way or another.
