I gave notice once and was not only told "GTFO" but he rolled my tool boxes out to the curb. Fortunately I anticipated such a dick move from him and had arranged transportation.

Best defense for not getting fired is to get a Dirty Job like those Mike Rowe shows on his programs. No body will want to do them and depend on you to keep the Company alive.
