Personal experience with Dean, I've also sent a few folks his way. Everyone has been very positive with their feedback of his services.

I have not done an NFA trust and don't practice in that area. However, here is a pretty solid article on the benefits, detriments, and considerations for NFA trusts.
The article is quite long, with many embedded links, so I have not tried to copy and past it here.

Though it may take a while to process current NFA Form 1 & Form 4 applications due to the current demand/workload inbound to the NFA Branch (as a result of the new $0 Tax Stamps!), now is also a great time to consolidate all individually owned NFA Firearms and Suppressors into a single NFA Trust entity! I used the referral from the board and contacted our member HeavyD at NFAlawyers.com about 10 years ago. The trust was prepared and back to me the next day. The packet comes with forms and instructions to make changes, add NFA items, add responsible persons, beneficiaries, or remove them if needed.
I understand this is a lot more flexible than the single shot trusts from Silencer Shop and now that transfers are $0 many people are transferring out of them into a full trust. One thing Dean recommended is pick a short trust name. Mine is 3 initials like "IGR Trust" which is easy to engrave on a short barrel rifle.

Another happy HeavyD customer right here. Communication was prompt and the package I received was very easy to interpret and thorough.

Silencer Central prepares/gives you the gun trust (silencers) on their product. MY thought on using Dean for a gun trust, silencers only, would be redundant?

I'm still around. Thanks, everyone, for the recommendation.
Mike, I just responded to your email. I have been slammed in court.

There is a lot of incorrect information on that website. To list a couple - Everyone on the trust does not need to submit fingerprints and pictures. Sharing possession of the NFA items is not the only reason to use a trust. Often we run into folks getting older or running into legal issues and needing family members or friends to take possession of their NFA items. You cannot let them without a trust.

Thanks, that is one of the main things I was trying to find out. I want one for my wife and I but did not want her to have to submit every time I buy something.

I try not to be a fulltime cynic, but when I see an article on a website that makes a business of helping people get an FFL which says that a gun trust is a bad deal and you’re better off getting an FFL I can’t help but wonder if there’s any bias or conflict of interest…

My Best friend has been doing estate planning & gun trusts for more than a decade. He is a stand up guy, phenominal attorney & a big 2A/NFA guy to boot!
He now has a national presence for online gun trusts & can help you with all of your gun trust needs.
I can personally vouch for him. Please feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions. Link below
I have to put a plug in for Dean. A very reasonable fee of $150 with fast turnover time of 36 hrs. Standard lawyer fees are in the 450+ per hour.

Only 'Trustees' (a.k.a. Responsible Persons) need to provide prints/pics and fill out an ATF Form 5320.23 'Responsible Person Questionnaire'. This applies to ALL Trustees on the Trust, Successor Trustees excluded, but it 'can' (and does!) depend on how the Trust is written. This message has been edited. Last edited by: nhracecraft,

Thanks Dean, I don't have the experience to evaluate the information, but it seemed reasonably well written. Thanks for the clarification.
I take it that you still recommend trusts over other forms of ownership?
