RightwireTomorrow morning, cataract surgery
Not typical for someone my age but apparently I've developed a rapidly forming cataract in my right eye. I've changed 4 powers since April trying to compensate.
Surgery tomorrow morning...

tatortoddgood luck tomorrow.
Did you get tested for diabetes? My Dad had a fast growing cataract and the eye doc sent him to his primary care physician to get tested for diabetes. Everything came out fine, but the eye doc said fast growing cataract can be an indicator of diabetes.

flashguyGood luck. It's not a procedure with a lot of risk. I had both eyes done a couple of years ago, at age 80, and am doing just fine.

armoredGood luck.
I'm scheduled to have it done next month. I need both eyes but my right (dominant eye)is worse and first on the list. I choose the multi focal lens at extra cost.
What lens are you having installed?

BytesI had mine fixed about a year ago. Best move I've ever made. Like you I kept increasing the strength of my reading glasses and that strategy finally stopped working. Good luck but you'll be fine. Your quality of life is about to improve significantly.

lastmanstandingHad both mine done a year ago June. Now my right eye is cloudy again. Going back in a couple weeks. Not sure what's going on. Someone said it's not unusual and they will clean it up with a laser.

Probably just capsular haze that develops sometimes after the implant is placed; very easily taken care off with LASER. Also called a “secondary cataract.”

lizardman_uquick healing to you sir.

John SteedBest of luck sir, you will love the improvement.
I had both eyes done. I went from not being able to recognize faces at twenty feet to about 20/30 in both eyes. I use dime store reading glasses now if the print is really small or the light is dim. Otherwise, for the first time since 5th grade I can see perfectly well without any glasses at all.

BOATTRASH1I had mine done late January and late February this year. Everything is good. Now I need to carry cheap reading glasses but I can wear my good sunglasses again when running the boat..
