Curious to what others uses for humidity control in their gun safe. Obviously the weapons need to be properly lubricated. I use a golden rod safe heater as well. Any other suggestions/recomendations … desiccants, etc.

I stick one of these inside and dry it out whenever it turns green'ish.

I just use Goldenrods in my safe of 40 years. I used only one forever then added a second one about 10 years ago.
No issues ever but I also keep rifles lubed and in bore-stors then inside cases.

Most pistols are in Midway gun/mag cases. I do keep a bunch of Sig in the original cases.

I've had Goldenrods in both gun safes for years.

I run a dehumidifier in the basement area where my safes are on a humidistat, set at 50% RH. I have a thermometer/hygrometer magnet stuck on the outside of one safe so I can always reference it.

Golden Rod. My safe is inside and I live in Florida. Never had a problem. My neighbor keeps his safe in the garage and no humidity control. In Florida. His garage is not climate controlled. It’s been 4+ years and no problems for him. I think he’s nuts but not my guns.

Nothing. The safe is inside and the house is air conditioned which removes water from the air to cool it.
Even the safes we had at every unit I was at in the CG was inside in an air conditioned space.

Looking across the room and the inside humidity is 38%

I keep my gunsafe in an un-air conditioned garage in South Florida with high humidity. I have a Golden Rod in there since 2014 and everything is fine.

Herein lies the answer.
OP- you're in San Diego, not a lot of humidity there. Hell, not a lot of any sort of bad weather... Kinda jealous when it was 7 degrees last night. Anyway, if it was MY SAFE, I'd toss silica gel disiccant in there at the least, probably a goldenrod just for piece of mind, but no need to run it 24-7.

Mustang, El Toro, Selogic / Texas, Louisiana, Florida... in areas with a TON more humid conditions, I'd like a goldenrod the size of a tree trunk in there.

Anything works with enough lube.
