Their behavior during the last legislative session was inexcusable.

Truth.

I'm glad my new subdivision doesn't have any HOA.

At my last house, the HOA President for a period of time was this hateful old retired biddy, who absolutely lived for upholding the HOA rules. It was seriously her entire life. She used to march around the neighborhood twice a day, morning and evening, noting things in her notebook, which inevitably would result in a nastygram to that homeowner for stupid shit like their shrubs being an inch too tall.

This went on for several years, She was finally ousted by the rest of the board when she began sending out letters threatening fines for these minor infractions without even consulting with the rest of the board. Apparently, the rest of the board weren't agreeing to be pedantic enough for her taste, so she decided to just take it upon herself to do it all herself (but still used the HOA letterhead to make it look like the HOA was the one sending it, not just her).

After she was forced out, I actually joined by HOA board, hoping to try to be a voice of reason. It didn't help much. There were enough other board members who - while not as bad as the biddy - were still overzealous and unreasonable, that they could vote through what they wanted with a slim majority.

When I started hunting for my next house, towards the top of the wish list was NO HOA.

I was going to posit a “Murder of Karens”, but it seemed too edgy.

Unfair to cats, as cats can be very likable. Lovable, even. Karens? Nah.

I'd think "gaggle" would be an appropriate term for a cluster or group of Karens. A gaggle of Karens.

I think he nailed it with HOA.

"Moms Demand Action" and other "organizations" are best called boxed wine.

Synthetic and full of cheap drunks.
