The neighbor lady has been detecting for
Over 30 years.

She has gotten involved with three very
Similar circumstances over the years.

None of which turned out like the person
said.

Memory is 75% of the problem, over time
accounts of the facts change ,as do the
amounts, people involved and locations.

After three treasure hunts with 30 hours
Each invested, she steers away from them.
She said all three were no where near
worth the effort.

According to her ,there are companies
you can hire for X amount per hour,
That have the equipment and knowledge
, but they are not cheap.

Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency.

Good luck with the search. Reminds me of my aunt and uncle. They were well off, and aunt knew uncle was skimming and hiding money as they were having difficult personal issues. They never discussed it, but she knew. He loved to garden and they had a large one.

When he died suddenly of a heart attack, she broke out the shovel and went to digging up the garden plot assuming that was the best spot. She dug on and off for years, looked everywhere she could think. Years followed and no cash was found. Then one day, with the freezer being near empty, she pulled out a large frosted plastic bag full of money that had been stuffed way back and down in the freezer and was now accessable.

Truely "cold hard cash".

Mom purchased a player piano at an auction
The very next week the piano expert came
To look at it and tune it up.

He opened it up and pulled out a pillow case.
It had $1,200.00 in it. All the bills were
from 1952-1959.

She gave it all back to the people that sold her the piano.

I imagine you can ascertain the effectiveness of these outfits by how willing they are to work for a share of what they find.

Assuming there's no short term resolution they would go the other direction. https://www.digstockevents.com

Groups/companies hold huge metal detector gatherings where they will "seed" the location with things to find, give out prizes etc. You end up with hundreds of people with detectors on the property. They'd have to sign away rights to the "missing treasures" of course. And if they didn't find it then, the cat would certainly be out of the bag.
