| It doesn't take a genius to see that private, unregulated growers can produce pot cheaper than legitimate businesses operating under byzantine regulations and paying substantial taxes for the privilege of doing so (the massive tax revenue, remember, was a big part of the sell to voters). As long as those regulations and taxes are in place the only way to make the price of legal pot comparable to illegal pot is through subsidies that offset both the regulatory cost and the tax burden, which means the industry would be a net fiscal loss to the state. If commercial pot growing is going to succeed it will have to regulated and taxed like, say, tomato or broccoli growing. |

When working in London many years ago I was exposed to two expressions which aptly describe the CA government. The first (which the English claimed was an American expression) was “could <bleep> up a wet dream.” The British version was “couldn’t organize a piss-up in a brewery.” |

| You would probably get a lot more prison time making moonshine vs growing illegal weed. Moonshine takes money away from the Federal.gov Alcohol Tobacco Firearms

That's a policy the Spanish have. You can own I think 3-4 plants grown for personal consumption however its illegal to sell, distribute or, buy. Plenty of garden shops/nurseries have all the fertilizer, accessories and how-to information for cultivating your own bud. |
