Some restaurants have started selling "groceries" to the public. These are just their regular menu items in raw uncooked format.

So far I'm aware of Waffle House and Panera Bread selling.

I phoned my local Waffle House and confirmed this.
I was told that (in my case and it may vary from location to location) I have to contact them between 7AM and 2PM and speak to a Manager. They will set it up and I can come in later and pick it up.

I thought the prices quite reasonable. Eggs are 30 for $5.00, T-Bone $8.00 (frozen in a freezer bag), the Strip Steaks is a quantity of 2 for $8.00. You can buy pretty much anything used in their menu. Coffee, hash browns, hamburger patties, chicken, etc.

If you are near one, give them a call, mine just texted me the menu.

With all the huge national wholesalers such as Ben E Keith, US Foods, Sysco, and more unable to unload their wares to the restaurants, I think this is a good way to help them out and us end use consumers too. FWIW in my city, Oklahoma City, US Foods has a huge retail store open to the public.

I'll gladly buy a lot from my local independtly owned restaurants, all I ask is that they break down the case lots to us, and a smart entrepreneur will.

Call and ask your local establishments, this can help them stay in business and take care of their families and employees.

We've been buying our produce and eggs from a local restaurant supply outfit, who just started selling to the public last month. Cheaper than the grocery store, and everything has been excellent quality so far.

Every Tuesday morning they post on their Facebook page and Google Docs spreadsheet what they received in their Monday delivery and the week's price. You email them your order, they send a confirmation email with total, and you then pick it up either at 2 pm on Tuesday or 10 am on Wednesday. Just pull up to the loading dock, roll down your window, hand over cash or swipe your card on their tablet, pop the trunk, get loaded, and go home.
